3. A few of our challenges...
This monument, which
symbolizes the freedom
of the latvian people, has
carved on its sides
multiple faces. We
needed to find out how
many of them
represented women.
We've only found one
(that of the lady in green
at the very top). In
actuality there were eight.
Oops !!
4. Challenge Number 2
What is the internal angle
tendered by this polygone ?
We were dizzy from looking up
and counting the windows on the
top of the dome. We counted 24
windows.
6. Back to school
● Klassika is a private school located in Riga,
Latvia. It houses 135 students from ages 6 to
19.
● During 4 days we worked on math projects with
students from different grades and took
advantage of latvian hospitality.
● The COGC student body stayed with wonderful
host families that were able to offer them a little
piece of Latvia.
8. Our first day...
● We heard wonderful presentations about
Chebyshev and his inventions with emphasis
on his contributions to Maths.
Jimmy and
Chebyshev's
walking
machine
9. During our third day
● We made lovely boxes of different shapes. The
experience was a mixture of geometry and
origami. We've spent the afternoon at the
Baltic sea...
10. Maths in and around the Old Town
● The team faced a wonderful challenge when
trying to solve mysteries on the run while the
clock was ticking....
14. Time to come back home.
We thank Klassika and its extended family
for their warm and kind welcome.
We hope to see you in Geneva very soon !!!!
