• Incorporated on January 2, 2013; IRS granted tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status in
June 2013.
• Launched pilot in June 2013 with 10 coaches. Now have over 174 certified
coaches in 28 states.
• Held over 2000 coaching sessions since launch.
• Coaches have coached in-person or by telephone across the country, and at vet
job fairs in Dallas, Denver, D.C., Hartford, Boston, NYC, and Lexington, Ky.
• Strong coaching support from International Coaching Federation (ICF)
Chapters in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, Colorado, Arizona,
Ohio, New York.
• Recognized for community leadership and achievement by NYC Mayor’s
Office/Veterans Affairs, Got Your Six and AUSA.
3. Our Mission
At Stand Beside Them, Inc., our mission is to partner with our returning
veterans and their families/caregivers to help them attain the
happiness and quality of life here at home that they so deserve after
serving our country.
Whether it is in finding employment, pursuing education, starting new
businesses, navigating the benefits system, or repairing strained
relationships, our trained, certified, experienced coaches are here to
help during the transition to civilian life.

• Helps the client set specific goals.
• Solution-driven and nonjudgmental.
• A motivator who keeps things on
track and moving forward.
A COACH IS A FACILITATOR OF POSITIVE CHANGE.
5. What is a coachee?
• Recipient of the coaching
• Is willing to engage in self-
examination
• Is open to challenge her existing
attitudes and behaviors
• Is ready to learn new behaviors
6. Who are SBT Coaches?
– 116 women and 58 men across the U.S.
– Experienced, coming from diverse backgrounds, including the
military (37 of our coaches are veterans; of these, 24 are men
and 13 are women)
– Hold credentials from either the International Coaching
Federation (ICF) or certification from a distinguished coach
training school
– Trained in ICF Core Competencies (i.e. establishing trust, active
listening, powerful questioning, planning & goalsetting…etc.)
– Abide by ICF Canon of Ethics
– Skilled in virtual coaching
8. AHS Coaching Parameters
• After Her Service Grant and Program requirements call for a
coaching emphasis on career and professional development.
• Personal, life and relationship goals will not be coaching priorities,
unless they are presenting obstacles or interfering with reaching
professional, business, or career goals.
• Your coach will make recommendations if referrals are needed.

• “I want to start a non-profit, and I’m not sure where to begin.”
• “I love my current company, and there are advancement
opportunities, but I’ve been told I need to develop my leadership
skills.”
• “I started a small business, and it’s in really rough shape now. I don’t
know if I can make it viable.”
• “I have a good job now, but it isn’t making me happy. I don’t know
how to change direction.”
• “I’ve been passed over for promotions in my current job. I don’t have
a great relationship with my boss, and I don’t know how to fix it or if I
should just leave.”
10. About Your Upcoming Coaching
6 months of coaching (2 sessions a
month, one every other week)
– Your coach will be available by
e-mail in between sessions
– Please give a 24hr notice of any
cancellation
Find a regular time to be coached
– A quiet place with no
interruptions
– Example: Tuesday at 4 pm,
every 2 weeks
You may get homework – do not
despair!
– The homework is designed to
help you move forward

could not complete the

How long is a coaching
session?
– Generally, 45 minutes to an hour.

13. Surveys
– Expect to receive two short surveys after session 4 and 8.
– One post-coaching survey after session 12.
– Please complete the surveys when you receive them.
