A CAS HUB IS A MEETING OF TEACHERS
WHO WISH TO SHARE THEIR IDEAS FOR
DEVELOPING THE TEACHING OF
COMPUTING IN THEIR SCHOOLS, THEIR
CLASSROOMS AND THEIR COMMUNITY. IT
IS A MEETING OF LIKE-MINDED
INDIVIDUALS WITH THE GENERAL
OBJECTIVE OF SUPPORTING EACH OTHER
AND THE SPECIFIC AIM OF PROVIDING (AT
LEAST) ONE IDEA THAT CAN BE TAKEN
AND TRIED IN THE CLASSROOM.

A Hub provides opportunities to have:
• Face to face networking with peers in the area over
a cup of tea or coffee

teachers in their day to day work.

  • 6. CAS Hubs WHAT IS A CAS HUB? A CAS HUB IS A MEETING OF TEACHERS WHO WISH TO SHARE THEIR IDEAS FOR DEVELOPING THE TEACHING OF COMPUTING IN THEIR SCHOOLS, THEIR CLASSROOMS AND THEIR COMMUNITY. IT IS A MEETING OF LIKE-MINDED INDIVIDUALS WITH THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF SUPPORTING EACH OTHER AND THE SPECIFIC AIM OF PROVIDING (AT LEAST) ONE IDEA THAT CAN BE TAKEN AND TRIED IN THE CLASSROOM.

  1. Computing At School: Helping Schools to embed the Computing Curriculum Education should prepare young people for jobs that do not yet exist, using technologies that have not yet been invented, to solve problems of which we are not yet aware (Richard Riley). The aim of the new computing curriculum is very much about preparing our young people for their future and this process is being watched with interest (and envy) by the rest of the world: USA, Singapore, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, Norway… However, the introduction of a completely new school subject does bring with it some problems, not the least of which is encouraging, supporting, and equipping the teachers of the nation to deliver the new Computing curriculum with confidence and enthusiasm. During this session you will find out how Computing At School (CAS) are supporting thousands of teachers through the CAS Hubs network, how the Hubs are providing access to bespoke CPD resources for primary and secondary schools which have been funded by Microsoft, in addition to a host of other resources shared via the CAS community. You will find out how your school can sign up to become a Hub or where the nearest Hub to your school is so, that your school can get the support it needs.
