Practical Experience:
QA/QC/Special Inspector (Confidential Employers) performing quality assurance audits and verifications of
work performed on Alaska Department of Transportation projects as well as providing special inspections of City
of Portland and various Washington State building projects. Recent activity include (1) ultrasonic testing of up to
560 feet of weld daily on NY State Bridge project (Skyline Steel) and (2) performing as acting QC for CANAM
Steel covering 45 welders / welding operators and responsible for dimensional inspection, fit-up and in-process
welding inspections, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing and final acceptance of production components.
Four major contracts completed before a permanent replacement could be found and trained.
Achievements: Developed ACCESS database for structural steel inspection. Accepted as (specialized procedure
qualified) UT technician on Bay-Area-Rapid-Transit (BART) project. Achieved OSHA-10 and First Aid Provider
certifications; CPR, AED, and first aid for adults.
Quality Assurance Inspector Material Engineering and Testing Services, American Bridge/Flour J.V. and
California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrop Corp/Alta Vista) working on San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge
Self-Anchored Suspension Bridge Project. Initially representing the prime contractor as quality control; duties
included dimensional inspection of major bridge components, in-process set-up of and welding inspections,
phased-array and ultrasonic testing of up to 700 feet of weld daily, magnetic particle testing and final acceptance
of production components. Later, representing the California Dept. of Transportation (responsible for deck panels),
duties included; Dimensional verifications of major bridge components, in-process welding inspection, phased-
array ultrasonic testing of partial joint penetration welds as well as distortion remediation at the Chang Xing Dao
(Shanghai), China facility. The above working experience is marked by the performance of full-time continuous
inspection of work performed by non-English-speaking people and having the requirement at times for hands-on
instruction methods in order to achieve acceptable quality craftsmanship.

- Assisted in the development of and monitoring of Duplex-Stainless welding procedures to ASME Sect. IX:
[B31.1, B31.3, B31.5, and B31.7], as well as full-time in-process welding inspections and RT Interpretation for
Boeing 787 Upgrade Project (Mayes Testing Engineers, Inc.), Everett, WA.
- 48” thru 60” Spiral-welded pipe welding quality improvement - Oregon Steel Mills (NDE Professionals, Inc.),
Portland, OR. Duties include full-time ultrasonic testing of API 5L pipe assemblies and coordination with craft
(welding and repair).
- Portland Aerial Tram Special and FEMA Inspections (Mayes Testing Engineers, Inc.), Portland, OR. Duties
include continuous inspection and testing of FEMA welds as well as bolting, stud welding, and decking
inspections, during the erection process.
-In-service fatigue inspections of numerous State and federally maintained bridges (Extreme Access, Inc.),
Washington and Oregon. Duties included extreme climbing with heights while performing ultrasonic testing at
appointed locations and weld mapping.
-Assisted in the development of and utilized procedures for [Volumetric and Lack of Penetration] UT of PJP
welds, performed production quality control including welder qualification testing, PQR qualification testing,
dimensional inspection, fit-up and in-process inspection, NDE, final acceptance as well as “after-blast” inspections
on San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Skyway Project; (NDE Professionals / Universal Structural, Inc.),
Vancouver, WA.
Achievements: EPRI Ultrasonic Indication Classification Training, API 5L Ultrasonic Testing Certification,
Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Certification.
QA Mgr./ CQC System Mgr./ Purchasing Mgr. responsible for Contract completion within schedule, on
budget, of required quality; performed duties including development of welding procedures and qualification
thereof, certification of welding personnel, development and management of contract submittals for customer
approval, vender entry audits, drafting standards audits, detail drawing review, Corporate Contract Quality
Representative, AISC Audits, development of all corporate quality procedures and corporate certifications, and
Contract quality control inspections as required including lay-out of key subcontractor work points [concrete cut-

Manager”, receive quotes, purchase and schedule material receipt, issuance of Purchase Orders for subcontract

personnel, non-conformance resolution and daily monitoring of production procedures and over-all quality,
