of a steam shower is NOT V=LxWxH.
Instead… it’s based on
Anthropometry for maximum
comfort. Then, adjust the steam
generator to fit that space.

Ceiling Height: Remember that steam
rises. So if you design a room with a
grandiose 13’ ceiling, your client won’t be
standing in steam.
The laws of physics dictate that the steam
will be up near the ceiling. You can go
higher than 8’ – say up to 10’, but the size
of the generator has to be bumped up to
compensate for that increased height.
MrSteam offers several tools to help you
figure out which steam generator will work
best for your application.

Q U E S T I O N S ?
Editor's Notes
MO: Continuing on with our two part webinar series, this is Martha Orellana and joining me is Dan Reinert from MrSteam.
Today we’ll be focusing on the HOW’s of steam, and explaining some of the WHY’s that go along with that. How to create the best customer experience, from a more technical perspective.
Keep in mind, at the end we’ll review some of our online resources for you again. If there’s anything you need a refresher on, or you’re looking for more in-depth information, these on-line resources will give you answers.
One of the great things about steam is that you can go as big or as small as you like in terms of the scope of the project.
If you’ve got a shower, and you want to turn it into a spa – we can make that happen. If you’ve got an unimagined space – a blank slate – then the sky’s the limit in terms of what you can do to build your dream space.
There are quite a few elements that go into planning the steam shower, as you can see from this list. We’ll start with the size of the space…
Anthropometry is “the scientific study of the measurements and proportions of the human body.” In other words, don’t start by giving your customers a minimum size based on LxWxH. Instead, design for maximum comfort. Adjust steam generator size to fit that space.
Ceiling Height: When we talk about ceiling height, the important thing to remember here is that steam rises. So if you design a room with a grandiose 13’ ceiling, unless your client is a giraffe, they’re not going to be standing in steam. The laws of physics dictate that the steam will be up near the ceiling. You can go higher than 8’ – say up to 10’, but the size of the generator has to be bumped up to compensate for that increased height. Mr. Steam offers several tools to help you figure out which steam generator will work best for your application.
One question we get asked often is whether a slope in the ceiling is required. Unless you are going to be using your steam shower for more than 45 minutes at a time, we don’t think it’s necessary.
This control placement is important because there’s a built-in thermostat within the controls that would not read accurately if it was placed directly above the steam head.
Threaded unions are highly recommended since it’s an electromechanical device and may need access
• There are so many good reasons to choose steam – whether you’ve got a client who wants it for the holistic health benefits, and is sold by the eco-friendly aspects of steam, or a client who’s in it for the skin care benefits and is sold by the relaxation factor - once you’ve gotten to the point in your client conversation where you’re ready to talk details, this is where you start…
