2. Principal’s message….
“This is the era of industrialization, privatization and
globalization. The need of the hour is training individuals in
dynamic way and makes them to face different challenges
thrown up by rapidly changing socio-economic technical
scenario at the National and Global level. The Younger
Generation must strive to develop into a well-rounded
personality with excellent technical, managerial, interpersonal
and communication skills poised at the cutting-edge of
Technology.
In this context, Jangipur Government Polytechnic, Jangipur,
Murshidabad, was set up in the year 2015, under Department of
Technical Education, Training and Skill development, Govt. of
West Bengal
Though it has started its journey very recently, it has already
made a mark towards spreading technical education with highly
developed infrastructural facilities and devoted faculties and
staffs. At present we are offering three Diploma courses namely
Civil, Electronics & Communication and Electrical Engineering
with an intake capacity of 60 students each.
I am happy to be a part of this Dynamic and Vibrant Institute.
My endeavour is to introduce a pioneering course of growth to
achieve the height of excellence and become an important
force to reckon with in the field of Technical education.”

3. JGP A BRIEF HISTORY
The proposal for setting up a New
Polytechnic at Jangipur was proposed in the year 2009-
2010 financial year and the land comprising of area 5.0
acres was being acquired and transferred to department
in the year 2011. The civil construction started in the
year 2014 and got its AICTE approval in the year
2015. The Institute started its journey with two
Diploma Engineering courses- Civil Engineering and
Electronics & Communication Engineering with an
intake capacity of 60 students each. In the year 2018, a
new course - Diploma in Electrical Engineering was
started with same intake capacity.
Within this short period the Institute has
already made a mark in spreading polytechnic
education. With the help from State Government the
Institute has established highly equipped laboratories,
smart class rooms and other infrastructural facilities
along with qualified devoted faculties and staffs.

Jangipur Government Polytechnic, at Raghunathganj, Jangipur, Murshidabad is functioning
under the administrative control of Department of Technical Education Training and Skill
Development , Govt. of West Bengal. It is affiliated to SCT &VE and Skill Development, West
Bengal and approved by AICTE, New Delhi for awarding Three Year Diploma in three branches
of Engineering i.e. Civil, Electronics & Communication and Electric Engineering having 60
intake each.
It is located near Sub-Divisional Administrative Building, Raghunathganj, about 5 km from
National Highway No. 34 from Umarpur and at a distance of 4 Km from Jangipur Rly Station.
The Institution has an excellent infrastructure in terms of equipment, buildings, experienced and
qualified faculties and a vast campus developed over 5 acres of land in a panoramic beauty of
natural environment on the bank of River Bhagirathi.

From Kolkata By State Bus (via Berhampore) to Umarpur then
take auto or Toto to the institute. From Howrah Rly Stn. to
Jangipur Road Rly Station then take a Toto to the institute
