2. Iron Deficiency Anemia
• "anemia" usually refers to a condition in
which our blood has a lower than normal
number of red blood cells.
• Iron is an essential mineral that is needed
to form hemoglobin, an oxygen carrying
protein inside red blood cells.
• Iron deficiency anemia is a condition in
which the body lack enough red blood cell
to transport oxygen-rich blood to body
tissues
5. • Blood Loss
Blood lost causes iron depletion
In women, long or heavy menstrual
periods or bleeding fibroids in the
uterus.
Childbirth
Internal bleeding
• Poor Diet
Low iron intake.
During some stages of life, such as
pregnancy and childhood.
8. an enlarged spleen
Cold hands and feet
frequent infections.
Irritability
shortness of breath
swelling or soreness of the tongue
9. • Some signs and symptoms of iron-deficiency
anemia are related to the condition's causes.
A sign of intestinal bleeding is bright red
blood in the stools or black, tarry-looking
stools.
Very heavy menstrual bleeding, long periods,
or other vaginal bleeding may suggest that a
woman is at risk for iron-deficiency anemia.
10. • Auscultation:-
functional systolic murmur at the
apex of the heart
• Laboratary investigation:-
reduced in the level of
hemoglobin with combination of reduced
amount of eretrocytes
12. ORAL IRON THERAPY
• Oral iron treatment may require 3-6
months to replenish body stores.
13. B12 DEFICENCY ANEMIA
• This anemia associated with violation of
the synthesis of DNA and RNA
cheracterised by the type of megaloblastic
hematopoiesis,intramedullary destruction
of red blood cells,pancytopenia with
hyperchromic anemia.
14. ETIOLOGY
• Violation of the secretion and absorbtion
of vitamin B12 (atropy of gastric mucosa)
• Competitive consumption of vit B12 (broad
tapeworm infection and other worm
infections)
15. Symptoms:-
• Specific features of anemic syndrome
• Pained tongue that is atropy of tongue
• Burning sensation and pain in the tongue
• Pain in legs,stagging during
walking,sensitivity distrabence,muscle
atropy
• Signs of myelosis
16. Lab diagnosis:-
• Increase in CPU(hyper chromia)
• Macrocytosis,megalocytosis.
• Polysegmentary nuclei of nutrophils in the
blood
• Myelogram:-large quantities of
megaloblasts determined
17. treatment:-
• Vit B12 1mcg 500 once a day by im
injection 4-6weeks and then 200 mg 1
time per week for 2 months
• Treatment of the underlying disease
• Diet(receive a sufficient quantity of
meat,vegetabuls and fruits)
