2. Traps
A trap is any combination of physical factors that promotes accumulation of hydrocarbon in one
place and prevents further movement.

4. Crest: The highest point of the trap.
Spill Point:The lowest point at which hydrocarbon may be contained.
Closure: The vertical distance from the crest to the pill point.
Pay Zone: Within the Trap the productive zone is termed as the Pay zone.
OWC: The deepest level of producible oil is referred to as Oil-Water contact.
GOC/GWC:The deepest level of producible gas is referred to as Gas-Oil contact in the presence of oil and Gas-Water
contact when oil is absent.
