Social Media Week Glasgow Cheat Sheet Series – No. 4 Sponsorship Opportunities




Social Media Week is a global initiative that draws together iconic world cities to host multiple,
simultaneous events that highlight the profound impact of social media on Society, Economy
and Culture.

SMW 2012 positions Glasgow alongside 14 participating cities, including Berlin, Vancouver, Los
Angeles, Chicago, and Sao Paulo and offers a tremendous opportunity for Scotland to
demonstrate its digital engagement and awareness credentials to its global peers.

As a FREE event SMW depends on the generosity of sponsors and partners to operate, and for
them it offers a fabulous opportunity for both on line and offline brand visibility to both a local
and international audience.

Involvement in Social Media Week presents an opportunity for global exposure and recognition
as being at the cutting edge of digital engagement and understanding, and garners association
with global sponsoring brands such as Nokia, Constant Contact and The Guardian.

Key Data Points
Last Social Media Week, held in February, proved to be SMW biggest conference to date, with
participation from more than 36,000 attendees, across 1,000 individually hosted events and with
2,500 speakers driving the conversation in 12 cities. The global event reached hundreds of
thousands of people in more than 180 countries.
