3. INTRODUCTION
The International labour organization (ILO) is a united nations agency dealing
with -
Labour issues.
Relating to international labour standards.
Social problems, protection and work opportunities for all.
The ILO organizes the international labour conference in june where
conventions and recommendations are crafted and adopted.

4. HISTORY
The constitution of the ILO was drafted in early 1919 by the labour commision,
chaired by Samuel gompers, head of the american fedaration of the labour (AFL)
in united states. It is composed of representatives from 9 countries-
Italy, France, Japan, Poland, Belgium, Cuba, U.K, U.S, Czechoslovakia.

5. OBJECTIVES-
Full employment and raising of standards of living.
The extension of social security measures to provide a basic income to all in need
of such protection and comprehensive medical care.
Adequate protection for the life and health of workers in all occupation.
Provision for child welfare and maternity protection.
The provision of adequate nutrition, housing and facilities for creation and
culture.
The assurance of quality of educational and vocational opportunity.

6. FUNCTIONS-
To contribute to the establishment of lasting peace by promoting social justice.
To improve , labour conditions and living standards through international action.
To promote economic and social stability.
International labour code- Is a collection of interntional minimum standards
related to health, welfare, living and working conditions of workers all over the
world.
The ILO also provides assistance to organization intrested in the betterment of
livivng and employment standards.
ILO andWHO work in closes collaboration in the field of health and labour.

7. MEMBERSHIP
As of 2015, the ILO has 186 state members. 185 of the 193 memeber states of
the united nations plus the cook islands are member of the ILO.
PROGRAMMES
 Provides labour statistics.
 Has training and teaching units.
 Voices against child labour.

Collection and distribution of information and publication.
Research and studies .
Impairment of working conditions and working environment.
Developement of social institutions.

12. ILO IN INDIA-
India is a founding member of the ILO and has been a permanant member of the
ILO governing body since 1992.The first ILO officer in india opend in 1928.

13. Most important areas affected by in india are-
Child labour
Forced labour
Trade union movement.
Occupational safety.
Employment generation.

14. CONCLUSION
