INTRODUCTION
 The Union Health and Family Welfare minister shri J P Nadda has
lauched Kayakalp Award Scheme’ on May 15, 2015 as an
extension of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.
 To create and share sustainable practices related to improving
cleanliness in public health facilities which lead to positive
health outcomes.

2. SWACHH BHARAT MISSION
• Swachh bharat mission is a national intiative launched by
honorable prime minister on 145th
birth aniversary of mahatma
gandhi on 2nd
oct. 2014 at rajghat new delhi, launched in
remembrance of mahatma gandhi’s words “cleanliness is next to
godliness”.
• A clean india will be a tribute to mahatma gandhi on his 150th
birth aniversary in 2019.
OBJECTIVES
• To promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices
in public health care facilities.
• To incentivise and recognize such public healthcare facilities that
show examplary performance in adhering to standard protocol
cleanliness.
• To control infection.
• To inculcate a culture of ongoing assessment and peer review of
performance related to hygiene.
• To create and share sustainable practices related to improved
cleanliness in public health facilities linked to positive health
outcomes.
SCOPE OF KAYAKALP
1. Assessment on perdefined objective criteria.
2. System of peer-review

3. 3. Two SDHs /CHCs in a state (one award in each category for small
state).
4. Cash award for one PHC IN Each district.
5. Certificate for commendation and cash award for facilities
achievinng more than70% score.
6. Cash award for DHSs.
