End of Year Assessments
• 3 Week Timetable: Following your feedback the
exam timetable will be reviewed and where possible we
will space out of exams.
• Preparation: Assemblies and tutor time to prepare for
this.
• Access Arrangements: Pupils will receive the access
arrangements they are entitled to in these assessments.

Reading Programme
• Reading Assessments: Star Reading Assessments. These assessments
provide accurate reading ages. Results of these assessments will soon be made
available to parents.
• Accelerated Programme: Programme links assessments to
recommended books in each pupil's 'Zone of Proximal Development' in order
for pupils to make rapid improvements in their reading age.
• Progress: Pupils complete quizzes after reading each book in order to
measure progress.

Reading Interventions
For pupils whose Star Reading Assessment shows that they require
more formal intervention to aid with their reading comprehension, one
of several interventions may be put in place:
• Read, Write, Inc. Fresh Start (phonics)
• Reading Eggs (phonics and comprehension)
• Lexonik Leap (phonics +)
• Lexonik Advance (reading, spelling and vocabulary)
• Small group interventions
• Parents will be informed of any interventions that are scheduled and kept up
to date with the progress their child is making.

Careers: KS3
• Our Careers Programme has launched this year and is based on the Gatsby
Benchmarks, which are recognised as the best practice in CEIAG education.
• The purpose of our Careers Programme is to raise aspirations and allow
your child to succeed in their life both during their time at St Leonard's and
afterwards.
• With an ever-changing job market, we have predominantly focused on
developing skills at Key Stage 3.
• We have a qualified careers advisor available to our pupils upon request.

Enrichment
Opportunity: Our excellent Enrichment Programme offers your child numerous
opportunities to embrace the school's community spirit and holistically develop.
Timetable: Over 30 weekly clubs for our KS3 pupils. From Rowing, Robotics,
Chess, Dungeons and Dragons, Choir, Netball, CAFOD club, Panto, Duke
of Edinburgh and so much more.
Trips: We have some fantastic educational visits planned throughout the
school year. More details regarding these trips will be shared shortly.

Merits: Our pupils are rewarded with a merit for every enrichment club
they attend.
Celebration: Rewards in Assemblies, Club of the Week,
Tutor groups rewards and celebration breakfasts.
Encouragement: Please encourage your child to participate in our enrichment
programme. Studies show that when pupils participate in extracurricular activities
their well-being, academic achievement and attendance all increase.

• Tool: Following your feedback about the Insight app we have
embedded ClassCharts as the school's main communication
platform.
• Information: Key messages are delivered to parents via
ClassCharts accounts.
• Communication: It is also a method by which parents can keep
up to date with the everyday school life of their children,
including the awarding of merits, homework, timetables, etc.

• Tracking: We can more easily track trends in behavioural data.
• Celebration: Parents can award merits to pupils at home, for
example for completing excellent pieces of homework.
• Attendance: Absences should also be reported to the school via
