4. WHAT IS INSTRUCTIONAL
DESIGN?
• Instructional Design is the systematic process of
translating general principles of learning and
instruction into plans for instructional materials
and activities.
• This is the process by which instruction is
improved through the analysis of learning needs
and systematic development of learning
materials

6. ADDIE MODEL
ADDIE Model-is the acronym for a 5 step systematic process that
generally is used by Instructional Designers to create instruction.
The five phases are”

In this phase the Instructional designers are the
who, when, and how much.
Additional task:
• Identifies who the learners are
• Identifies the learning gaps
• Identifies the delivery options
• Identifies the resources (funding)
• Identifies the project completion
timeframe

In this phase the Instructional designers are
identifying key components and creating the
prototype.
Additional task:
• Identify the design strategy
• Apply instructional strategies
according to type of learning and
learning
• Create first draft
• Add graphics
10. DEVELOPENT
In this phase the Instructional designers are
refining and finalizing what was completed
in the Design phase.
Additional task:
• Updated graphics
• Tying content to objectives
• Refining assessments/surveys/quizes

In this phase the process for
disseminating the training will be
devised.
Additional task:
• Host trainer the trainer session
• Ensure all class materials are
ready, operational, and in place
12. EVALUATION
There are two parts of evaluation: formative and summative
• Formative evaluation is conducted at each stage of the
ADDIE process.
• Summative evaluation consists of tests and feedback
forms (surveys) to gain information.

EDUCATION
Distance education that takes place when the instructor
and student are separated by space and time.

There are more than 100 different ISD models, but almost all are based on the generic "ADDIE" model, which stands for Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, as illustrated in the figure below. Each step has an outcome that feeds the subsequent step.
The ADDIE model has been criticized by some as being too systematic, that is, too linear, too inflexible, too constraining, and even too time-consuming to implement. As an alternative to the systematic approach, there are a variety of systemic design models that emphasize a more holistic, iterative approach to the development of training. Rather than developing the instruction in phases, the entire development team works together from the start to rapidly build modules, which can be tested with the student audience, and then revised based on their feedback.
