2. Automobile History
● In 1769 the first steam-powered automobile capable of human transportation was built by Nicolas
Joseph Cugnot.
● In 1823 English engineer Samuel Brown invented the internal combustion engine.
● In 1880, Karl Benz developed a petrol or gasoline-powered mobile auto.
● In 1908, the Ford Model T, created by the Ford Motor Company, began production and would
become the first automobile to be mass-produced on a moving assembly line.
● Karl Benz generally is acknowledged as the inventor of the modern car.

3. Classification of Automobile
● Based on purpose.
● Based on capacity.
● Based on fuel source.
● Based on type of transmission.
● Based on number of wheels.
● Based on the side of drive.
● Based on Body Type.
4. Automobile Design
● Vehicle design depends to a large extent on its intended use.
● Systems require more passenger comfort options, increased engine performance, and optimized
high-speed handling and vehicle stability.
● Automotive designs includes body, chassis, engine, fuel, lubrication, transmission, brakes,
suspension, steering, tyre, safety systems, emission control etc.
5. Audi A8 L
● Audi AG is a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and
distributes luxury vehicles.
● Audi is a member of the Volkswagen Group.
● Audi A8 debut in 1994, currently running its fourth generation.
● Audi A8 L was launched in year 2017.
● Here, L stands for ‘Long Wheel Base’.
6. Audi A8 L: Specification
● Audi A8 is a four-door, full-size, luxury sedan.
● It has a V6 4 Cylinder Petrol engine with Automatic Transmission.
● It uses electric steering, air suspensions and ventilated disc brakes.
● It can go 0-100km/hr in 5.7 seconds.
● It has high Comfort & Convenience ratings.
7. Solidworks
● SolidWorks is published by Dassault Systèmes.
● A Computer Aided Design(CAD) software
● Very versatile and has a large library of tools, materials, resources.
● Utilizes a parametric feature-based approach.
● A large number of Small and Medium Scale business use this.
● Features like surface modeling, solid modeling, render, photo-360 comes handy.
12. Ansys
● Ansys develops and markets engineering simulation software for use across the product life cycle.
● A Computer Aided Engineering(CAE) software.
● Ansys Mechanical finite element analysis software is used to simulate computer models of
structures, electronics, or machine components for analysing strength, toughness, elasticity,
temperature distribution, electromagnetism, fluid flow, and other attributes.
● It has a great library of materials.
● Functions used were Static Structural, engineering data etc.
14. Analysis of Rim
● To know the variation of Stress and Strain in it under an increasing load.
● Force variation:
X-axis : 0-5000 N, Y-axis : 0-10000 N, Z-axis : 0-5000 N.
Time Period: 10 seconds.
