3. OBJECTIVE
 Alternate forms of medicines have increased because of side effects of
marketed,synthetic and allopathic products.
 Various herbal sources are used in treatment of Common Diseases or
disorders like kidney stones,gall stones,asthma,peptic
ulcers,acidity,diabetes and wounds.
 The literature survey is an attempt to collect the information regarding
herbal medicines used in treatment and also the science behind its mode
of action is discussed.
 Thus it is synergistic work of old knowledge+scientific reasoning.

4. INTRODUCTION
 Natural remedies are safe and less likely to cause
complications. Many of these natural treatments have been
used for hundreds, if not thousands of years and because
of this their safety and potential side effects are well known.

5. LITERATURE SURVEY
kidney stone
1) Lemon juice and Olive oil:-
1. Take four tablespoons or a quarter cup of fresh lemon juice
2. Add an equal amount of olive oil
3. Drink this mixture followed by plenty of water
4. Do this two or three times a day, upto three days. You need not continue this
therapy if you pass the stones in a single dose.
2) Apple Cider Vinegar:-
 Mix two tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon of honey
in one cup of warm water. & Drink this a few times a day

6. Gall stones
 Pears:
Mix half a glass of pear juice with
half a glass of hot water. Mix in two
tablespoons of honey. Drink this
juice three times a day for two
weeks.
The compound pectin present in
pears helps soften cholesterol-filled
gallstones, which in turn get flushed
out of body easily.
 Wine
drink half a glass of wine and
within 20 minutes you will get
relief from the pain. In fact, half a
glass of wine daily can also
reduce the amount of gallstone
attacks by as much as 40percent
Stomach ulcers
 Honey:-
 honey can contain up to 200
elements, including polyphenols
and other antioxidants. Honey is
a powerful antibacterial and has
been shown to inhibit H.
pylori growth
 Garlic:-
 Garlic extract has been shown
to inhibit H. pylori growth in lab,
animal, and human trials
 Garlic acts as a blood thinner,
so need to consult adoctor
before taking it if you use

7. Asthma
 Clove:
 Take 5-6 cloves and boil them in half a
glass of water, followed by adding a
spoon of honey. It is an excellent
remedy in curing asthma at home and
should be consumed twice in a day for
beneficial results
 Black Tea/ Coffee:
 Caffeine present in coffee helps in
condition of asthma. Besides, it
clears your air passage and makes
way for air to enter and exit easily
through those passages. If you are
not a coffee person, you can opt
for black tea. But, make sure that
you consume not more than 3 cups
in a day
Gastric acidity
 Aloe Vera:-
 Aloe Vera can help digestive
complaints such as indigestion,
acid reflux, stomach bloating,
flatulence and irritable bowel
syndrome by cleansing the
gastrointestinal (GI) tract, reducing
colonic build-up and promoting
normal transit of waste matter
through the bowel
 Flavonoids:-
 Flavonoids are referred to
as“gastro-protective,” which
means they defend the lining
of the stomach.

8. Diabetes mellitus wounds
 Bitter Gourd:
Take fresh bitter gourd and get a few lemons
as well. To make the juice more effective, add
a little bit of turmeric.

lowering blood sugar levels
 Cinnamon:
Mix one-half to one teaspoon of cinnamon in a
cup of warm water. Drink it daily
Studies have shown that intake of 1,3, or 6 gm
of cinnamon per day reduces serum glucose,
triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total
cholesterol in people suffering with type 2
diabetes
 Turmeric powder:-
Use of turmeric for wounds heals
the cut, prevents infection and
also reduces the pain.
Turmeric is used very often over
wounds in India. This is
especially true when there is no
other medication available.
The antibiotic action prevents
bacterial infection of the wounds
by bacteria such as E.coli,
staphylococcus and bacillus.
Anti-inflammatory action relieves
inflammation.
The analgesic action relives pain.
Helps in formation of new skin
cells and closes the wound

 The project report on literature survey on applications of Herbal Plants in
the Treatment of Common Diseases can be summarized as follows :-
 1. Introduction of Common Diseases or disorders such as kidney stones,
gall stones, asthma, stomach ulcers, acidity, wounds are discussed along
with their symptoms.
 2. Herbal remedies on the Treatment of enlisted disorders are reviewed
and discussed with the recipe
