1) The document summarizes a final major project for a course where the student designed a world tour concept for artist The Weeknd and his album After Hours.
2) Research was conducted on the artist's albums and aesthetics, existing tour designs, and production techniques. Products created included a tour poster, tickets, alternative album cover, and magazine featuring album pages and articles.
3) The presentation outlines the design and production processes, such as effects used to create album art, magazine pages matching album styles, and a glitch effect on the poster and tickets. Samples of the finished products are also included.
3. Introduction
Welcome to my end of year FMP. For my last project concluding this course, I decided I wanted to design a world
tour concept. The artist I chose for this was The Weeknd and his album After Hours as he is an artist I enjoy
listening to and am inspired by their visuals and storytelling throughout his albums.
What inspired me to choose this topic for my project was graphic designer Aries Moross. They have worked with
an array of artists including creating tour visuals for One Direction and also created the promotional content for
Parklife festival. Their abstract style of work has had influence on this project.
Within this package, I have created a tour poster, with matching tickets design, an alternate album cover design
with mockups, a hoodie design, and a magazine.

5. Target Audience
For my target audience, I catered my products to the 18-25 age group. I had to look into The Weeknd's audience
because my project had to appeal to his audience. I looked at surveys of what artists were popular amongst
various age groups. In this survey of Facebook users, 41% of the 18-25 age category had interest in The Weeknd.
Another reasoning my target audience was ages 18-25 is because this artists lyrics and music videos are often
explicit and have mature themes, meaning that it is unlikely that anyone younger would be attending his shows.
My audience may also be of middle to working class as tickets to these shows are quite expensive with prices
ranging from $50-$150 and merchandise at these shows also being costly.

8. Research Findings
For research I carried out subject, audience, existing product, and production method research. For subject
method, I researched the artist and each of his album aesthetics and made a board of each to distinguish how
each have their own unique style and color scheme. I also researched his tour and set design and how these
matched his album releases at the time. Within existing product research, I found that for The Weeknds Starboy,
he kept a consistent color scheme from his tour poster all the way to stage design which all matched the feel of
the album. Production method consisted of me looking into tutorials of how others have created different styles of
posters and magazine to help inspire my own, I also watched tutorials on the 3D tools feature in Photoshop.

14. Procedures Undertaken
For my album cover, to create the curtain effect, I cut a section of the image into a mask. After dividing it into four, I used the transform warp tool
to create the effect along with an array of effects to make it look more realistic. For the 3D eye, I recolored a 2D eye map and converted to a sphere
mesh preset. I duplicated the layer and placed in different direction to create the effect as shown and finished it off by adding the album title and
XO logo.
For my front cover, in Photoshop I created a halftone comic book effect and added a gradient overlay to the image of the artist. For the collage
effect, I placed a variety of images into boxes with a gradient overlay and motion blur. For my back cover I made a triple exposure effect, and the
slogan text as a futuristic 3D bevel and emboss effect to give the overall image a luminous futuristic look. Inside the magazine for my first double
page, I wanted to replicate a similar style to the Trilogy cover. I made a collage style of each mixtape within the album so I could display them
separately. For the Kiss Land, I created a scanned image effect including a photo strip. Using text effects, I created the neon street sign style text on
these images. With the third page, just like it’s album cover, I created a paper torn collage style image by combining a multitude of photos from this
release to make a collage. I created a neon glowing space look for Starboy that matches its title and the visuals around this album. I added a
selection of photos displayed across the page and added a gradient overlay that corresponds with my article page. On the next page, I used film
frames and placed images along with song lyrics to fit the feel of this album. For the final page, I incorporated aspects of my album cover with the
eyes into a trippy style image.
For the tour poster I started out by creating a triple exposure effect, and then duplicated this to create the glitch effect. Using an image of The
Weeknds arm, I used the warp tool to surround the subject. The spherise filter helped me turn this into a fisheye lens and I then went on to add
the tour dates and logo to the poster. I used the triple exposure image for the ticket design and incorporated the RGB glitch effect on the
Ticketmaster logo. Finally for the hoodie design, I added a heatmap style gradient and a motion blur filter to create this effect.

21. Production Outcomes
Here is the final outcome of all my products. Starting out with the album cover, I also have mockups to present
how they would look if they were sold. Next is my completed magazine with all of the pages combined into double
pages. The full magazine is available to access on Issuu. Finally, my tour poster, tickets and hoodie design which is
also presented on a mockup.

23. Summary & Conclusion
This concludes the presentation of my FMP. As I have shown, I have made a completed package of promotional
tour products and merchandise that would appeal to my target audience.
In summary, for my FMP I have managed to create a complete tour package of print products including the
promotional poster, and merchandise
