Caused by Specific event. Cause is often general and natural. 
Very brief in duration. It last longer than emotion. 
Specific and numerous in More general(two main aspect 
nature. -negative and positive. 
Usually accompanied by Generally not accompanied by 
distinct facial expression. Facial expression. 
Action oriented nature. Cognitive in nature.

THE FUNCTIONS OF EMOTIONS 
Emotions and Rationality. 
Emotions are critical to rational 
thought: they help in understanding 
the world around us. 
Evolutionary psychology. 
Theory that emotions serve an

Survival of the gene pool. 
The theory is not universally 
accepted.

( Seconds or Minutes ) 
Moods lasts longer than 
Emotions ( hours or days )

Moods are Cognitive in 
nature.
CAUSATION 
Emotions are caused by 
Specific event. 
Cause of mood is often 
general & unclear.
EXPRESSION 
Emotions are accompanied by 
distinct facial expression. 
Moods are generally not 
indicated by distinct 
expression.
DIMENSION 
Emotions are specific & 
numerous in nature. 
Mood have only two 
Dimension ; i.e., positive 
Effect or negative effect.
Feeling of pleasure, contentment due to 
Fortunate event is ‘Happiness’
5 STEP TO STAY IN HAPPY MOOD 
1. Talk to your parents, friends, or teachers, and tell them 
what is going on. 
2. Do something you enjoy, like reading novels, listening to 
music, or even sleeping. 
3. Play a sport you enjoy. 
4. Hang out with people you like. 
5. Think about your goals in life, and how happy and fulfilled 
you'll be when you complete them.

Feeling envious of someone else’s possessions 
achievements or advantages
HOW TO HANDLE JEALOUSY 
1. Understand the emotion of jealousy. 
2. Take a good look at the effect your jealous behavior has on 
other people. 
3. Change any false beliefs that might be fueling your jealousy. 
4. Take notice of which part of your body is affected. 
5. Communicate your feelings. 
6. Learn from your jealousy.

1. Look for the triggers that cause you to feel frustration.

4. Remember that frustration is born of wanting things or 
people to be a certain way that is fixed in your head. 
5. Practice talking back to yourself every time that 
frustration arises.

5 STEPS TO DISPLAYED EMOTIONS 
1. Control your breathing. 
2. Keep your head up. 
3. Go for a walk. 
4. Meditate. 
5. Start the day in a positive way.
