6. Pathophysiology
It is a defensive reaction of the tissues- to prevent the spread of infectious material
to others parts of the body.
1. The organism kill the local cells by release of cytokines.
2. The cytokines trigger an inflammatory response.
3. Which draw large numbers of WBC to the area & increase the regional blood
flow.
4. Wall- capsule, that is formed by the adjacent healthy cells in an attempt to keep
the puss from infecting neighboring structures.
5. Such encapsulation tends to prevent immune cells from attacking bacteria in
the pus or from reaching the causative organisms.

7. Signs & symptoms
In skin abscess :- Redness; heat; swelling; pain ; high temperature ; chill & loss of
functions.
In internal abscess:-
Pain in affected area; high temperature
And present with affected aria related others symptoms.
Perianal abscess:-

8. Complications
Spreading of the abscess materials to adjacent tissues or remote tissues.
Tissues death.
Gangrene.
Septicemia.
Systemic shock.

9. Prognosis
Skin abscess are common & prognosis is not bad.
Internal abscess are harder to diagnose & more serious.
It may become critical with septicemia; may Couse systemic shock.
