The Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience(AIME Program) commenced at UniSA
in 2013 with approximately 100 UniSA student mentors. This group liaised extensively
with AIME staff based in Sydney (before permanent staff were located in Adelaide) to
commence the communication and promotion of the AIME Program to UniSA students.
The group succeeded in gathering over 300 Expressions of Interest from UniSA students
to be involved in 2013 and played a major role in ensuring a successful start to AIME at
UniSA.
9. Experience Mentoring
Kylie Spencer, Leo Coldbeck-Shackley, Kimberly Sun, Renee Sporne
This team investigated the benefits of a university-wide mentoring program and made a series
of recommendations regarding the structure and format of such a program. Recommendations
were passed on to Divisional Head with and resulted in several UniSA Divisions taking on some
of the recommendations for peer-mentoring programs.
10. This is My Culture
Dianne Dahim, Amy Dangerfield, Kent Kwun, Paige Labone, James Withey
The objective of ‘This is My Culture’ was to strengthen cultural awareness and
understanding through allowing students to share their culture with their peers and
community via their artwork. Students were to be invited to produce artwork that
exemplifies their cultural background, QR codes next to the artwork would provide
further detail on the artist and the meaning of the artwork. Aspects of this proposal were
incorporated into Reconciliation Week and Multi-cultural Week events at UniSA from
2013.
