7. Main objectives
• Launched in 2014, Amgen Teach supports hundreds of science teachers each year
across Europe through meaningful professional development opportunities.
• Supported by a €2 million grant over a three-year period, Amgen Teach deepens
student interest and achievement in science by strengthening the ability of life
science secondary school teachers to use enquiry based teaching strategies in the
classroom.
• Amgen Teach uses training workshops and distance learning events to provide
educators with the skills and confidence to transform the student experience in
learning science

11. Face-to-Face training courses
• Training courses taking place in 10 countries
• Duration: 2-3 days
• Objective: to improve teachers’ ability and confidence to use IBSE methods in the
classroom
12. DLAs
• 3 DLAs per academic year (e.g. “Nanotechnology around us”, “Stem cells
biology”, “Watermark – the anatomy of an inquiry based science project”
• Short and intensive online learning sessions of 5 days duration
• Day 1 – Pre live session (familiarisation)
• Day 2 – Synchronous live session
• Days 3 and 4 – Questions to be answered in the online community
• Day 5 – session ends with discussion and participants share their experiences
and relevant resources
