On Friday 1st February 2019 our P7 Sports Captains helped us launch our annual Digital Safety month at Sciennes by giving their own hints and tips on how to enjoy a safer Internet together. P7s explained in turn how they are Responsible, Respectful, Critical and Creative in their use of the Internet and invited everyone to share their own hints and tips. Primary Seven pupils have been very busy this week at a highly engaging Art of Listening Music workshop at the Hub, fully funded by the Edinburgh International Festival. Then on Thursday evening, Essie, Louis, Ben, Sophia, Millie, Jamie-Lee, Suzie, Millie, Hamish and Kieran were so impressive demonstrating science ceilidh dancing with Lewis Hou at Dynamic Earth to an audience of 80 STEM teachers and educators. P7B feature in Lewis' fantastic STEM and HWB DVD teaching resource which will be issued to all primary, secondary and special schools. Several of our Chinese speaking pupils wished everyone Happy Chinese New Year for Tuesday 5th February. We also highlighted upcoming World Book Day on Thursday 7th March which has a theme of 'Share A Story' and invited everyone to dress down or wear a homemade costume representing a book character. As a 1 in 5 Child Poverty Awareness school, we discourage expense and reminded pupils they can borrow from our costume lending library, set up by P5 pupils Bella and Emma when they were in P2. We have been invited to take part in a very exciting project at City Chambers in March. Eight delegates will participate in a Model UN Conference on the topic of single use plastic. In recogniton of her initiative and enthusiasm in organising a whole school petition to reduce the use of plastic, we have invited P6 Juline to attend with seven P7 pupils. Congratulations to Dylan for achieving First Place in a recent Cross Country competition and to Josh and Freya who also did very well in the race. (P6 and P7 cross country trials took place this week in readiness for the EPSSA Meadows Cross Country event on Monday 4th March. Congratulations to the fastest ten boys and girls in P6 and P7.)
