On Friday 25th September we looked back at previous Clean Air Day campaigns in preparation for Clean Air Day 2020 on Thursday 8th October. Let's make every day a clean air day by supporting safe, active travel and clean air spaces for our community.
11. “At Sciennes we went to the
Meadows park to look at the lichen
on the trees because we wanted to
know about air pollution. I asked for
the school’s handheld air quality
monitor because the route I walk to
school could be polluted and it could
be interesting to find out about it.
When we were on camp at Lagganlia
Outdoor Education Centre we found
old man’s beard [lichen]. It only
grows in the cleanest of air. The
lichens and mosses we found on the
Meadows were pollution loving. I
took the monitor to Lagganlia to
compare the air there with
Edinburgh.”
