4. INTRODUCTION
“ University Campuses are significant functional Areas of cities.Successfully designed
campuses help to balance university’s academic, research and service missions with its
educational services and raise learning performances.Campuses’ high level of design and
planning service has close relation with legibility. ” (Ozyavuz,2015)
From this point of view, given the importance of campus clarity and its impact on
students, we conducted a study on the universities of Al-Bayt and Hashmia, to
measure the extent to which students know their campus according to the
clarity or complexity of the course within it, & to clarify that difference
in a way methodology, in order to study the subject seriously &
design a more efficient campus.

7. sTUDY AREa
Al-Bayt University and the Hashemite University were chosen because
they are located in similar surroundings and similar circumstances, with
different design, where we will compare them to see which of the two
methods is easier for students to identify and walk in.
The maps of the two universities have been compared, with the map of
Beit University appearing more complex, while the Hashemite
University appears as a straight line with college buildings on
either side.
9. Questions
Q1. What is the pattern of Universities campus that is better
in term of wayfinding?
Q2. What makes students distinguish their campuses more?
Q3. What is the likelihood of students being lost on their campus?
Q4. How discriminatory are students to their university photos among
other universities?

Descriptive research: This method was used to measure students'
satisfaction with their university style, how familiar they are and how
easy it is to move in.
Self-report method/Questionnaire: This method of data collection
was chosen because it enables us to provide a relatively cheap, quick &
Efficient way of obtaining large amounts of information from a large
Sample of student>
12. Dat
a collection
A questionnaire was made to measure the requirements of the
research and we distributed it to the Facebook groups of students
of the University of Al-Bayt and Hashemite University, to answer it
by the students.
After the required number of answers was compiled we separated
the questionnaire to 2 to be able to compare the answers together
and reach a final conclusion.

1. Colors and materials used in the cladding of the roofs of external buildings.
2. Landmarks such as sculptures, main buildings and others.
3. Streets and meeting points of movement axes.
4. The shape of the buildings and the spaces between them.

● Looking at students' answers to previous questions, we found that
Hashemite University students had a higher level of awareness regarding
the landmarks and paths of their university, while students at Al al-bayt University
received an average degree .
● As for the question of what makes students distinguish their campuses most, the
answers were increasing with regard to the form of buildings and spaces between
them, while the answers were lower for the answer on colors and materials

● According to previous results, students of the Hashemite University believe that
the design of their university is easy and simple, as it is easy to move them and find
them for their own colleges, and deny the possibility of losing them in it unlike the
students of the University of Al-Bayt, some of whom answered the possibility of
losing them sometimes.
● Hashemite University students can largely describe their location on
campus if asked, and Hashemite students described the entrances to
the buildings as clearly defined and distinguishable by simply seeing
them, unlike students of the house who did not agree.

23. RESUL
TS
● Based on the students' previous answers, it was found that students of the
Hashemite University are more discriminatory to their university's landmarks
than seats, umbrellas, seating areas and spaces between buildings.
● In addition to their ability to distinguish the images of their university from other
universities more than students of al-Bayt University.
24. Research Answers
After conducting this research we found that simple and clearer campus
patterns are easier to maneuver and move in for students, and the shape of
distinctive buildings helps them find their way more effectively.
which reduces the likelihood of being lost on campus roads, in addition the
simple campus helps students distinguish their campus more efficiently than
the complex campus based on the results of this questionnaire.
26. 01
Students studying on a campus
with complex paths, had a lower
rate of discrimination for their
university landmarks.
02
Students studying on a campus
with clear & simple paths, their
distinction to their campus
landmarks was more efficient.
03
A campus with a
symmetrical design
increases the likelihood
of students being lost.
