FROM H.O.D’s DESK
World is flat , opportunities are immense. It’s just a question of identifying opportunities
and making best of them.
I feel ecstatic to introduce you to department of radio diagnosis which is the foundation
of Santosh Institute of Allied Health and Sciences for increasing knowledge , enhancing
the critical thinking , ability to change information into knowledge and power of analysing
the things technically of each and every individual by changing society through students.
We always intend to impart knowledge through a closed knit family of highly competent
faculty. Our department have been very well establishes not only to cover complete
syllabus but motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develop
complete knowledge and skills
Ms. Sonika Kumari
M.Sc Radio Imaging Technology
From Faculty Desk
The department of radiology has recorded consistent improvement in academic research
and placement performance. It offers a range of innovatively designed programs whose
curricula are constantly updated to meet the changing requirement to meet the needs of
changing curriculum. We believe that our students have been well accepted in their job
profiles and have consistently exceeded expectations of corporate world. We encourage
hands on experience through internship projects. We have designed our syllabus to strike
a balance between professional knowledge and skills
With this brief introduction I welcome you to be a part of our journey towards being a
world class centre of excellence in education, training and research.
4. What is radiology ?
INTRODUCTION ON RADIOLOGY
IMPORTANCE OF RADIOLOGY IN MEDICAL
Radiology is the medical specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat
diseases within the bodies of both human and animals
A variety of imaging techniques such as x-ray radiography, ultrasound, computed
tomography(CT), nuclear medicine including positron emission tomography (PET), and
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to diagnose or treat diseases.
Interventional radiology is the performance of usually minimally invasive medical
procedures with the guidance of imaging technologies such as those mentioned above
The modern practice of radiology involves several different healthcare professions
working as a team. The radiologist is a medical doctor who has completed the
appropriate post-graduate training and interprets medical images, communicates these
findings to other physicians by means of a report or verbally, and uses imaging to
perform minimally invasive medical procedures
Radiology plays a important role in disease management by giving physicians more
options, tools and techniques for detection and treatment. Diagnostic imaging allows
for detailed information about structural or disease-related changes. With the ability to
diagnose during the early stages, patients may be saved
