DIPLOMA IN CENTRAL STERILIZATION SERVICE (DCSS)
This course will provide the essential skills required to work in a Hospital Central Sterile
Supply Technician (CSSD). Trainee will be exposed to basics of sterilization, operations
and handling of sterilizers, documentation, quality control and sterilization practices.
The course shall also interlink and teach coordination of CSSD & Infection control.
The CSSD Technician decontaminates, inspects, assembles and sterilizes instruments
and surgical trays. The technician also manages inventory control, orders supplies,
inspects, maintains, delivers and retrieves equipment and instruments for the surgery,
emergency room and intensive care units. Other topics covered in this program include
basic anatomy & physiology.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Student will know the various functional areas of a typical Central service Department.
Identify work hazards and Importance of good communication skills.
Student will understand the various parts of the body, body systems and how they work
identify pathogenic microorganisms and how they affect the body.
Student will able to describe levels of disinfections and universal precautions. Discuss
the various aspects for the prevention of the transmission of blood borne pathogens.
4. PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:
Operation Theatre Technicians are allied healthcare professionals. Diploma in operation
theatre technology is a two year diploma program designed to build a trained and
qualified technicians who will assist medical professionals in the operation theatre of
hospitals, intensive care units as well as emergency departments. Diploma holders of
this course will possess desired technical and interpersonal skills required to work under
the supervision of anaesthetists and surgical personnel.
After successful completion in this diploma students can do complete management of
the operation theatre like sterilization of O.T, patient care, arranging operation table,
instrument, anaesthesia table and management of operation theatre staff.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Students will understand the role and scope of the operation theatre technology in the
healthcare setting with respect to preoperative and postoperative care of the patient.
Students will develop skills necessary to identify the treatment procedures and
requirements based on various surgeries or operating procedures.
Students will be able to educate patients on strategies to prepare the patient coming
for the operational procedures.
Students will be able to apply principles of safe practice in operation theatre
