THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION BY NATURAL SELECTION ADVANCED BY DARWIN AND WALLACE HAS BEEN DESCRIBED HERE IN POETIC FORMAT ALONG WITH MODIFICATIONS MADE DUE TO LATER DISCOVERIES AND MENTIONS ALSO THE ANCIENT INDIAN CONCEPT ABOUT IT.

Evolution of whales from land mammals

From Pakicetus like tetrapods to whales
one of the most wonderful examples of evolution
2. Jeev jagat Evolution poem 1
They say ‘it is easier said than done’
can there be better example than one
of Bio evolution , which is familiar to everyone,
now , to even schoolboys more than one
Oh ! my God it was so difficult indeed
really , to convince any one
in the whole of wide western world
about ongoing bio evolution
When Darwin and Wallace presented
their papers on Evolution in England
Not only laymen and distinguished
Churchmen , but even scientists of the day then
In the 19th
century Great Britain
did’nt believe and refused to accept
it, as a real life on going phenomenon
the church ,as it was against bibilical canon
3. Jeev jagat 2
But scientists !Oh !what can be said of them
even after the evidence was laid bare before them
perhaps because it was against prevailing notions
or theories about creation of plant and animal kingdoms
Even highly educated gentlemen
did not hesitate to make great fun
of Darwin when some supported him
advocating it like Huxley &Weismann
Be that as it may now we know it stands
accepted ,albeit with some modifications
due to discoveries which have since come to light
particularly about genes and mutations
Taking cue from the theory of Malthus
the famous Economist about populations
Darwin had observed and pleaded
that due to excessive reproductions
And shortage of resources at a time
there was keen struggle for existence
in which there was scope only for the
fittest to survive and continue existence
4. Jeev jagat 3
Those which adjust and adapt to the
prevailing or changing circumstances
that is prove fitter than others in the race
are favoured by intervening Nature always
For Nature selects the beneficial variation(s)
which accumulate little by little&slowly slowly
in this process, in due course of time ,gradually
give rise to new species causing speciation
The variations as we now know arise
due to several causes in the life of a species
including segregation and assortment of
Mendelian factors now called genes
Mutations which frequently arise,
horizontal gene transfers taking place,
crossing over or epigenetic factors
which may affect genes in heritable traits
But only those changes which take place
in the germ line as we know now
make their contribution in the on going
process of evolution or speciation
5. Jeev jagat 4
It is by this process of Evolution
that Bacteria or Archaea gave rise to
the Protista –the great grandfather of
the remaining three kingdoms
From Protofungi arose the Fungi
from protophyta algae the plantae
from Protozoa the animalia -
in them, from sponges to mammalia
Within mammals the evolution
gave rise gradually to Eutheria
and among them arose the primates
within them the lesser & greater apes
Amongst the later from our last
common ancestor, branched of
our forerunner humanins Ardi& Australo
pithcans and those of the genus Homo.
In the days of Darwin inspite of the
lot of fossils etc he had collected as evidence
during his long voyage on HMS Beagle
and facts Wallace had uncovered in Malaysia
6. Jeev jagat 5
people did not believe we Men could be
even distantly related to Chimpanzee
and there could be one common ancestor
of all living beings even in hoary past
And even now it is not easy to believe
but evidence spread all over the planet
proves and compels us to realize all life
evolved ultimately from a common ancestor by God !
-----------------------
Note :
Acceptance of Darwin’s ideas led
to the belief that Life evolved
and grew in a Tree like fashion, hence
a Tree of life was conceived
depicting 6 kingdoms branching of
one after another in time sequence
but after discovery of HGT etc it is now
conceived as web* of life instead.

Universe as spiders web 5000 years ago.
