2. THE ABACUS
This device was used to do calculations. It was
invented b the Chinese 5000 years ago. Man
needed to keep track and count things they
had in stock (e.g. sheep and other livestock).
4. BLAISE PASCAL
Blaise Pascal, the French scientist was one of
the most reputed mathematician and physicist
of his time. Blaise Pascal, and Gottfried Leibnitz.
In 1642, at the age of eighteen Blaise Pascal
invented his numerical wheel calculator called
the Pascaline to help his father a French tax
collector count taxes.
6. CHARLES BABBAGE
Charles Babbage was born on 26 December 1791,
probably in London, the son of a banker. He was
often unwell as a child and was educated mainly at
home. By the time he went to Cambridge University in
1810 he was very interested in mathematics.
7. HERMAN HOLLERITH
Herman Hollerith is widely regarded as the father of modern
automatic computation. He chose the punched card as the
basis for storing and processing information and he built the
first punched-card tabulating and sorting machines as well as
the first key punch, and he founded the company that was to
become IBM.
8. APPLE /MACINTOSH COMPUTERS
Apple Computer first came to be a company in 1976 when Steve
Jobs and Steve Wozniak when they released the Apple I and was
located in Cupertino, California. These two young men dropped
out of college, and were often viewed as outcasts in most of the
places that they were at, including schools, which could have
been the reason that they dropped out of college.
