Luca Ghini was the first person to establish a
botanical garden on scientific lines in 1543 at
Pisa in Italy.
 At present there are over 600 important
botanical gardens in the world.

Botanical gardens are important places of
systematic study and research on flora of the
region.
It is a place for growing flowers, fruits or
vegetables.
A botanical garden is an educational
institution for scientific workers and general
public or layman to awake and enlightened
interest in plant life.
