Stress is defined as the emotional & physical strain caused
by a persons response to pressure from the outside world. It
occurs when there is a mismatch between what the people
aspire to do and what they are capable to do.

• In a medical or biological context stress is a physical, mental, or
emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension
• Stresses can be external (from the environment, psychological,
or social situations) or internal (illness, or from a medical

• Stress can initiate the "fight or flight" response, a complex
reaction of neurologic and endocrinology systems
• It can alter, health and emotions as well, it can effect cognitive
functions impairs concentration, attention, decision making
ability and creativity
