A highly qualified, bright, empathetic retail professional
needs a career with a focus on helping others because the
retail industry does not strongly support philanthropic efforts.
• Ability to meet people with common interest
• Makes helping people contageous
• Ability to enjoy work environment
• Improved feelings towards career path and company
• Creates diversity in job function
• Possibly creates new opportunities
WHAT WORKED
• Could create a full time function within the company
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
• How much time will need to be dedicated?
• Will it affect job security?
• What will it cost and how will it affect the bottom line?
• Who can choose charity, committee or company only?
? QUESTIONS
• Work with local commmunity to find needs
• Get the whole company involed in charity events
! IDEAS
! IDEASPROTOTYPE ONE - Practical Solution:
Create a committee at work that finds ways to donate to charity.
• Ability to garner higher participation
• Ability to gain executive level participation
• Give employees a goal to common goal to push for
• Creates a sense of urgency for a good cause
• Seen as fun rather than a task
WHAT WORKED
• Make sure the person chosen to be kidnapped is
valued and well liked at the company. This may be
someone other than the CEO.
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
• Will take it seriously enough to want to participate?
• How disruptive will this be for the company?
• Will the company approve of this?
? QUESTIONS
• Spread word using company’s internal social network
• Get the companies consumer comunity involved
• Use social networks to create a buzz
! IDEAS
! IDEASPROTOTYPE TWO - Practical Solution:
Stage a CEO-napping.
Both “ideas” sections have great suggestions. For the first
solution, working to find “local” communities in need is
invaluable. This could improve the perception of the company in
the eyes of the consumers it serves. In addition, this gives the
stakholder a sense of pride, accomplishment and fulfillment.
For the second solution, going viral on social networks could be
a great move. Creating a viral charity movement would be great
publicity for the company and garner much attention to help
communities in need.
