- 31. Second Rule
When a consonant comes before a
consonant in a verb, we simply add
‘ed’.
Formula: Consonant + consonant = + ‘ed’
- 33. Third Rule
When a consonant comes before a vowel
in a verb, we simply remove the vowel and
add ‘ed’.
Formula: Consonant + Vowel = (e) + (ed)
- 35. Changing “y” to “i” + “ed”
There are two rules we follow when we
change the verbs ending in ‘y’ to ‘i’ +
‘ed’
- 37. Example:
I car(r)(y)ied my school bag all day.
When a consonant comes before a verb, we simply
remove the ‘y’ and add ‘i + ed’.
- 44. Write the past tense form
for the each of the verbs as
