1. WhenI firststartedto create my model,Isetout to buildingthe mainareasof the shipbefore
actuallybuildingthe outerwalls;the reasonbeingforthisistoavoidhavingtowork aroundthese
large wallswhichwouldbe blockingmyview.
The firstmain part I startedonwas the captainsoffice andmainstairsways,to do thisI startedout
witha simple box thenreshapedandextrudedituntil Igotthe shape I wanted.Todo the stairsonce
againI took a rectangle,shapedittothe correct size andthencopiedand pasteditto formthe
stairwayeffect.
Before Istartedon all the complex detailswithinthe ship,Iwantedtogetall the mainroomssetout
so I knowwhere everythingwouldgoandhow I’d doit, the nextstepItook wasthe walkwaysand
back rooms,to do thisI firstlystartedoutwitha shape Imade to match a doorway,thenonce
completingthatIthenusedmulti-shifttocreate the walkwaysthenexpandedittocreate the room.
2. Once I had complete all of the mainroomlayouts,Ithenstartedon the computerdeskpositionedat
the front of the ship.To do thisI made a square but whilstIwasstill inthe create tab I added
segmentssothenIwouldbe able to bendandmove certainparts of the rectangle and that’show I
made the shape withcurvedscreentopsand bentarches.
The nextthingI startedto workon withinthe shipwasthe bathroomI had created,the firstobject
was a toiletandI didthisbycreatingsimple shapessuchasboxes,rectanglesandbowlsandthen
place themtogethertogenerate the shape of a toiletbasin.AfterIhadfinishedthe basicshape of
the toilets,Iworkedoncreatingthe cubicle thatwouldbe surroundingit.Thisagainwasa range of
basicshapes,sizedand modifiedtothe correctshape.
The nextand mostcomplicatedmodel Istarted wasthe seatsI wouldbe placingwithinmymodel,I
tookreference fromthe seatsusedwithinthe enterprise fromthe filmStarTrek,Istartedout by
makingthe base of the chairsfirstand thiswas justsimple diskthatIextruded.Aftercompletingthat
I startedon the mainseat,I didthisby firstplacinga rectangle withmultiple segmentstocreate the
back piece andthenmakingme able to extrude the armsoutand applyingaslightcurve to itto
make it more realistic.
3. Once I had completedthe firstchair,Ithenmultipliedittosave time andthenmovedthemintothe
placedI desired,afterIhaddone thisI decidedthe nextthingIwouldstartonis completingthe
captainsoffice,byusingthe same principle asIdidwhencreatingthe computerstandsonthe main
floor,Icreatedsmalleronestofitwithinthe roomI wantedthemtobe placed.Thistaskwasn’tvery
hard as I had alreadydone itonce so I knew the quickestandbestwayto complete it.
To make the model bedI design Ifirstlystartedoutwitha table sortof shape thanonce creatingthis
I thenplacedanotherrectangle torepresentthe bottombunk.Tomake the wallsall Ihad to do was
extrude the segmentlinesIhadcreatedwhenIfirstmade the rectangle,makingit easierinthe long
run. The lastthingI didwhencreatingthisbedwas the stairsfor it,to do thisitwas twosimple
rectanglesgoingdownthe bedandthencreateda discand extrudedittothe correct size.Thento
save time againI copiedandpastedthe discsall the way down.
Aftercompletingthe bedroomfurniture Idecidedtogoback to the bathroomand model more
furniture withinitsuchasthissinkand mirror,I useda rectangle atfirstwhenmakingthisthenusing
bevel anddrill Iwasable to create the sinkaffectand thenusingdrill Iwasable to cut out the holes
inthe bottomto representthe plugholes.
4. The nextroom I beganto create wasthe engine room;thiswasthe mostdifficultone upto now just
because of howcomplex some of the partswere withinthem.DuringthiscreationIusedanew tool
calledthe magicbevel creatingthe tube effectsgoingintothe engine. Asyoucansee on these
imagesthe engine isbrightrandomcolours,the reasonbeingforthisisbecause thenit’seasierto
identifywhensurfacingthemlateroninthe program. For mostof thisI usedsimple shapesandthen
modifiedthemusingthe toolsavailable.Butforthe gears I simplyusedthe create tabandselected
the correct whichmade it forme,I justhad to resize itand place itinthe correct position.
The showerswere the lastthingI createdwithinthe bathroom, FirstlyIstartedoutwithjustsimply
rectangles,once Ihad thiscomplete Ithen movedontocreatingthe water cable,todo thiswhatI
didwas create a disc thenusedthe magicbevel toextrude itoutandbendit into the correct shape.
5. ThenlastlyI hadto create the dialsandthat wasdone by makingdiscsand thenextrudingthemout
and resizingthem.
Thiswas the lastpart of furniture Icreatedwithinmyspace station;it’sa storage shelf whichis
locatedwithinthe bedroom, tocreate thisIstartedout witha rectangle thensimplyusingthe drill
tool I was able tocut outshapesof my creationwithinittocreate the shelving,butwhenitcame to
the last fewthe polygonsstartedmessingupwhenItriedtouse the drill tool so to save time trying
to solve thatI decidedtouse a knife tool andmake sectionsusingthat.
