2. ANAEMIA DEFINITION -
• Anaemia is usually defined clinically as a reduction of the
haemoglobin concentration to less than 130 g/l (males) or less than
120 g/l (females).
• The function of the RBC is to deliver oxygen from the lungs to the
tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs.
• The decrease may result from blood loss, increased destruction of
RBCs (hemolysis), or decreased production of RBCs.
9. Symptoms of anemia:-
• Easy fatigue and loss of energy
• Unusually rapid heart beat, particularly with exercise
• Shortness of breath and headache, particularly with exercise
• Difficulty concentrating
• Dizziness
• Pale skin
• Leg cramps
• Insomnia
