Unchanged described or reported words or speech of a speaker
Enclosed in Inverted commas as quotation
Jannat said to me, “ I want to serve my poor village people.”
Indirect Speech
Changed described or reported words or speech of a speaker
No Inverted commas
Jannat said to me/told me that she wanted to serve her poor village
people.
4. Two Parts
Reporting Clause Reported Speech/Clause
Direct Speech: Jannat said to me, “ I want to serve my poor village people.”
Indirect Speech: Jannat told me that she wanted to serve her poor village
people.
Direct Speech: The students say, ‘We are ready to learn english grammar’
Indirect Speech: The students say that They are ready to learn english
grammar’

Reporting Clause: the clause that is formed with a subject and
a verb is called a Reporting clause.
***the verb in the reporting clause is called Reporting
Verb.(RV)
**an object can be after the Verb
Reported Clause: the narrated or described words or speech of
a speaker is called a Reported Speech or clause.
*** in Direct Speech the reported clause is in the Inverted
Commas while in Indirect Speech no Inverted Commas is used

we can report or describe the speech of a speker in two ways. one is in directly without any change just copy and paste another way is indirect description.onthe basis of two ways there are two types of narration
In the two sentences, we might notice that both of them convey the same message, but there is a difference if we look closely. In the first sentence, I am conveying the activities of Jannat in her (J) own words without changing it; it is called direct speech. In the second sentence, I am using my own words to convey the activities of the speaker (D) to the audience. This we can say indirect speech
