Mary Haynes noticed a significant organic traffic drop in their client’s website who
didn’t follow through with their advice on disavowing bad backlinks.
Still too early to say if it’s truly an update from Google. But some tweaks to the algo
could be possible.
3. 05/09/2019 – M-DOT Version will be shown more
frequently
Following the introduction of mobile-first-indexing, there is a bigger chance for
Google to mistakenly showing the M-dot version of a site in desktop search.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Redirect your desktop visitors on your M-dot version to your desktop version, that
can help Google to understand it better.
Ultimately, Google still recommends adopting responsive design.
4. 05/09/2019 – Distance-based service area in GMB
retired
Business listings on Google My Business previously using the distance-based
service area will now be automatically updated to show their nearest named area
instead.
Keep an eye out if you haven’t updated your listing in a while!
