Hendesigns Ltd provides energy efficient lighting solutions and services including free energy surveys, funding assistance, and installation. They have helped over 70 local businesses upgrade their lighting and obtain Energy Grant 500 funding of up to £500 for projects with paybacks of under 5 years. Examples included switching a delicatessen's halogen and fluorescent lights to LEDs for £2911 with a 4.3 year payback and annual savings of £550, and converting a health club's lights using adapters and replacing halogens with LEDs for £632 with a 1.15 year payback and £549 in annual savings.

2. Funding Your Project Energy Grant 500 Through Business Support Kent, SEEDA are offering Energy Grant 500 to help small businesses. The project is designed to raise awareness of energy usage in the business. It provides a grant of up to £500 to implement changes that will result in reduced energy costs and a smaller carbon footprint. The current project is accepting applications up to the end of August 2011. The Carbon Trust offer interest free energy efficiency loans to replace or upgrade your existing equipment with a more energy efficient alternative. We are able to make the applications on behalf of our customers thus simplifying the process. Loans of between £3,000 and £250,000 are available to SME’s.

5. We recently completed a project at an electronics manufacturing company in Chichester, using high frequency adapters to convert over 600 T8/T12 fluorescent tubes to T5. This project included specialist coloured lighting in several of their manufacturing areas to eliminate UV light. The Carbon Trust loan process was simple and timely. Total cost of project £12,043 payback 1.86 years Annual savings are predicted to be 90,800 kwh of electricity = 48 tonnes of Co2 = £6460

6. For public sector – for example, Schools, Colleges, Local Council buildings etc there is assistance available from Salix Finance. We recently completed an installation at a College in Southampton, converting over 1300 T8 fluorescent tubes to T5 using high frequency adapters. This was funded by an interest free loan managed by Salix Finance.
