Waste to Energy ProcessIn line with Gems 2010 Waste Targets, our objective was to increase our waste recycling rate from around 60% to 80%. In October 2009, we negotiated a contract with Grundon Waste Management to be one of the first companies to send our non recyclable waste to the to their new waste to energy plant, in nearby Colnbrook (see Fig 1). In doing so, we have achieved a 95% or over recycling rate every month since then. Recently in October 2010, a Sony representative was amongst a selected group, who were invited to attend the Grand opening of the facility by HRH Prince Philip.SUK won an award for this achievement at our own Global Environmental Management Conference in Barcelona this year.
