Cautionary Statement
Today’s presentation, accompanying slides, and responses to comments and questions may
contain forward-looking statements on such matters as: plans and expectations for SBS future
financial and operating performance; business and market conditions; the demand and pipeline
for SBS products; new products and versions of existing products; future sales, distribution and
support strategies; market growth and direction; competition; market share; revenue growth;
margins; and profitability.
In addition to factors discussed in specific slides, other factors that could cause actual results to
differ materially include continued health of SBS’ end markets; the expectation of several
government systems design wins to start production in fiscal year 2005; sales to Applied
Materials and Ericsson to continue during fiscal year 2005 at the same dollar sales level as
during fiscal year 2004; business and economic conditions generally affecting SBS’ customers
and their end customers, including but not limited to the changes in size and program priorities of
military procurement budgets; a high degree of uncertainty and rapid change in the markets
addressed by SBS’ products that could reduce sales or render certain SBS products obsolete;
customer demand for and acceptance of SBS’ products which may affect both sales and
margins; SBS’ ability to design, test and introduce new products on a timely basis; SBS’
technology capabilities; and the other risk factors listed from time to time in SBS’ Securities and
Exchange Commission reports, including those listed under “Risk Factors” in SBS’ Annual Report
on Form 10-K for the year ended June 30, 2004 filed with the SEC.

Product Concept
• Competition drives innovation: Our customers
continually need something that is smaller, higher
performance, cooler, more cost effective.
• Visionary Applications: Our products are often
born of necessity to meet a specific application
requirement.
• Emerging Markets: As market needs change, SBS
develops new products to enable our customers to
address the applications that emerge.
• Entirely New Technologies: Breakthroughs in
technologies provide us with the opportunity to
address previously unsolvable problems.
• Research and Development: Theoretical and
practical advances provide the basis for entirely new
products.
“To compete, I need a
product that outperforms
everything else, or has
features that differentiate it
from the rest of the market.”
14. 14
Standards Participation
• Open Systems Memberships: SBS participates on
IEEE, VITA, PICMG and many other standards
bodies.
• COTS: Commercial off-the-shelf products have
revolutionized military procurement.
• Regulatory Compliance: UL, CE, NEBS ensure
safety, proper emission, and environmental flexibility.
• Interoperability: The advantage to adhering to
standards is the ability to integrate components from
a multitude of different suppliers.
“I don’t ever want to be held
hostage to a dead-end
proprietary system. I need
to have options, now and in
the future.”
15. 15
Design Considerations
• Environmental Constraints: We design products
that span extreme heat, cold, vibration and shock
requirements.
• Custom Product: SBS can make changes to
standard products or create fully-custom boards.
• Computer Simulation: Used to predict performance
characteristics of our products in the field while the
products are still in development.
• System Integration: SBS can assemble all the
components into a complete functioning unit.
“I’m about to make a huge
investment and I’d feel a lot
better working with an
experienced supplier of
quality products.”
16. 16

fixed configuration that will not change.
• Long Life Requirements: SBS can make special
arrangements to continue manufacturing a product
over many years, often longer than the components
are available.
“In my world, the latest is
not necessarily the
greatest. Don’t upgrade
your products without
telling me.”
20. 20
Lifecycle Management
• Product Road Maps: We are prepared in advance
for most of the technologies that will affect our
customers. We consult with customers and make
recommendations about which technology direction
to take for the future.
