 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: Students will read a short story about
a murder of Mr. Burns in Springfield in a power point presentation
from my computer.
 Seating arrangements: Students sit in pairs.
 Cooperative work: Students will work in pairs to develop their
activities as they will feel more confident and motivated.
 Possible problems/difficulties and possible solutions in the class:
Students are used to listening to their teacher speaking in Spanish
during the whole lesson. They do not speak in English. I will speak
English during the whole class so if they do not understand, I will use
body gestures, facial expressions, miming, and modeling to aid
comprehension.
 Assessment: what will be assessedand how?
I’ll check students’ understanding and participation by providing help
when necessary. I’ll provide the opportunity to develop their skills and help
them to improve or build confidence in their activities.
ROUTINE:5’
I enter the room greeting the students. I’ll say “Hello students!” “How are
you today?” “I hope you find very well.” “Open your folders and copy,
please.” I’ll copythe date on the board.
Transition: “Ok...students”.“Let’sstart.”
WARM UP: 10’
I’ll show students some pictures from my computer.
I’ll say “Lookat the following pictures now “Lookat this picture.”
“What is his name?” Students will surely say that he is Mr. Burns. “Yes,
you’re right.” “He’s Mr. Burns”
“Lookat this one now.”
“What is his name?” (Maybe they will not remember the name, so I’ll say
“He’s Clancy Wiggum.” “The policeman”
“Ok students” “Now, look at this last picture.”
“Who are they?” (They’ll surely say The Simpsons.)
“Where do they live?” ( showing them the following picture) They live in
SPRINGFIELD.
Transition: “Ok, very good boys and girls.” Something strange happened
in Springfield last week.” “Let’s see…”
PRESENTATION:10’
Students will watch and read a story in a power point presentation from my
computer.
I’ll write on the board the following sentences while students are reading
each scene.
Homer: “I WAS SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET WHEN MR.
BURNS WAS KILLED.
Marge: “I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH MY MOTHER
JACKIE WHEN MR. BURNS WAS KILLED”
BART: “I WAS PLAYING FOOTBALL WHEN MR. BURNS WAS
KILLED.”
Lisa: “I WAS DOING MY HOMEWORK WHEN MR. BURNS WAS
KILLED.”
Milhouse: “I WAS PLAYING VIDEO GAMES WITH BART WHEN
MR. BURNS WAS KILLED.”
Abraham: “I WAS SLEEPING WHEN MR. BURNS WAS KILLED.”
Waylon: “I WAS TRAVELLING TO LAS VEGAS WHEN MR. BURNS
WAS KILLED.”
Selma and Patty: “WE WERE BUYING FOOD WITH MARGE IN THE
SUPERMARKET WHEN MR. BURNS WAS KILLED.”
Seymour: “I WAS HAVING DINNER WITH EDNA WHEN MR.
BURNS WAS KILLED.”
Ned Flanders : “I WAS SITTING ON A BENCH WHEN MR. BURNS
WAS KILLED.”
Barney: “I WAS EATING WHEN MR. WAS KILLED.”
Moe: “I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WHEN MR. BURNS WAS
KILLED.”
I’ll ask students. “Ok. Who was the culprit?”

I’ll show the picture with the answer.
Then, I’ll stick the following posteron the wall.
I’ll write this structure on the board. Students will write this on their
folders.
PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
I-SHE- HE IT + WAS + VERB + ING
I’ll write these examples on the board. I’ll give some minutes to students so
they can copythe examples on their folders too.
For example:
Bart was playing football when Mr. Burns was killed.
Marge was talking on the phone when Mr. Burns was killed.
Then, I’ll say “Lookat this structure now.”
THEY- YOU – WE + WERE + VERB + ING
For example:
Selma and Patty were buying in the supermarket when Mr. Burns was
killed.
Seymour and Edna were having dinner when Mr. Burns was killed.
Transition: “Ok, now, let’s work now!”
