5. E.U SYMBOLSE.U SYMBOLS
-There are several EU symbols, the most well –
known is the circle of yellow stars on a blue
background.
THE EUROPEAN FLAG
-The 12 stars in a circle symbolised the ideals of
unity,solidarity and harmony among the people
of Europe.
THE EUROPEAN ATHEM
-The melody used to simbolise the EU comes
from the ninth synphony composed in 1823 by
Ludwing Van Bethoven.

The European Parliament (EP) is the directly elected
parliamentary institution of the European Union (EU).
Together with the Council of the European Union (the
Council) and the European Commission, it exercises the
legislative function of the EU. The Parliament is composed
of 751 (previously 766) members, who represent the second
largest democratic electorate in the world
It has been directly elected
every five years.
