Attention: Human Resources
Dear Hiring Manager:
Re: Well Site Supervisor Position
I am very interested in working as a Well Site Supervisor with your company.
During my 24 years servicing all types of oil and gas wells (shallow, deep, sour gas, horizontal, underbalanced) in
Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan, I have worked on most types of workovers and completions. These included nitrified
fracturing, slick water sand fracs, hydrocarbon fracs, ball drop continuous fracs, monobore and dual lateral
completions, horizontal completions, high pressure snubbing, fishing, perforating, plugs, coil tubing unit clean-outs
and over/underbalanced operations.
After 10 years with Concord Well Servicing, I was promoted to Rig Manager in charge of a skid double service rig that
worked primarily for Encana. Throughout my 7 years managing this rig, we had an outstanding safety record and
consistently finished projects profitably, on schedule and to Encana’s satisfaction. We also had minimal downtime
as a result of proper planning and rig maintenance. I went on to manage a mobile free-standing single service rig for
2 more years with similar results, before becoming a contract Tool Hand. Operating downhole tools for over 4 years
has taught me even more about what it takes to ensure a safe and successful workover or completion. I have also
been contracted as a Well Site Supervisor, which gave experience in dealing directly with an oil company.
You will find that I am known for my ability to work productively and systematically with crews, contractors and
consultants to get the job done. In my experience, a well-trained, motivated, tight-knit crew with good morale usually
outperforms most others. Creating this type of a work environment has always come naturally to me. Being
respectful, positive and personable has paid off with above average productivity, strong teamwork, low employee
turnover and zero lost-time incidents on all of my crews to date. As a supervisor, I also lead by example and am open
to questions and others’ ideas, as well as in taking the lead in setting expectations and coming up with solutions.
My educational qualifications include a Well Service & Workover Certificate, Well Service BOP Certificate, Service Rig
Assessor Certificate, DNV Practical Loss Control & Leadership Certificate, a Safety Management & Regulatory
Awareness for Well Site Supervision Certificate and numerous safety courses.
In closing, I am confident in my ability to do a good job for your company, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Ron Shank
