The document outlines the content, target audience, mode of address, primary research, and secondary research for a documentary about urban exploring. The documentary will include interviews with two male urban explorers ages 17 and 23. It aims to inform its target audience of males ages 17-19 that urban exploring is done for the experience rather than to destroy property or steal. The documentary will have an informal style using freehand footage and formal interviews. Primary research involved a questionnaire finding interest in exploring abandoned locations. Secondary research analyzed another urban exploring documentary that interviews explorers about their motivations and perceptions of their hobby.
2. Content (What will be in it?)
• In the documentary I will gain a primary view of the
hobby/activity from actual urban explorers they are both
male but this doesn’t mean that it wont appeal to the
opposite sex, as lots of females do its just that I do not
know any female urban explorers.
• I am going to interview Johnny Turner who has been a
friend of mine for 6 years he is 17 and does free-running in
the last few months we have both been doing some urban
exploring and have got really into it.
• My second interviewee will be James Issacc who is 23
years old and is retired he is a very good photographer and
loves to do urban exploring he has been doing it a lot
longer than us I am not sure for how long, I will have to ask
him.
3. Target Audience (who is it for, be as
specific as possible and explain why)
• The target audience that I am going to be males
roughly the ages from 17-19 as I feel that as I am
a younger this may not appeal to any older ages.
Photographers, urban explorers and freerunners
as most explorers take photographs to remind
them of how amazing a view or tunnel was.
• I am hoping that this will inform people that
urban explorers are not just breaking in to places
to destroy things or steal they are doing it for the
experiences that not everyone will have.
4. Mode of Address (formal, informal,
direct and indirect)
• I will make this a documentary that I believe
will be slightly informal as a lot of the footage
will be freehand but the interviews, I will use a
tripod and set the interviewee in the rule of
thirds.
• This will be an indirect documentary as I will
not talk to the camera or do sign-ons
5. Primary research
Primary research has been recorded on a few
short questionnaire.
Through the questionnaire I have found out that
anyone with the chance to go on the shard 10
out of 10 of them would.

• There is another documentary on my theme of urban exploration
called crack the surface, in which urban explorers are interviewed
in places that they have got to while exploring.
• In this documentary the explorers give you their opinion of what
they are doing and how they think people perceive what they are
doing
