Amblyopia: when the vision in one of
the eyes is reduced because the eye
and the brain are not working
together properly. This condition is
also sometimes called lazy eye.
Diplopia: a disorder of vision in which
two images of a single object are
seen. This condition is also sometimes
called double vision.
Mydriatic: dilatation of the pupil of
the eye
Miotic: an agent that causes miosis
Presbyopia: a visual condition which
becomes apparent especially in
middle age and in which loss of
elasticity of the lens of the eye causes
inability to focus sharply for near
vision
Tinnitus: a sensation of noise that is
caused by a bodily condition (as a
disturbance of the auditory nerve or
wax in the ear) and typically is of the
subjective form which can only be
heard by the one affected

Stapes: the innermost of the chain of
three ossicles in the middle ear of a
mammal having the form of a stirrup
Tympanometry: an examination
done on the functions of the middle
ear. It assesses the mobility of the
eardrum by creating variations of air
pressure through the air canal
Eustachian tube: a bony and
cartilaginous tube connecting the
middle ear with the nasopharynx and
equalizing air pressure on both sides
of the tympanic membrane.
Sometimes also referred to as the
auditory tube
Labyrinth: a tortuous anatomical
structure; especially in the inner ear or
its bony or membranous part
