Family is the first society I’ve experienced in my life. I think I was received by my parents within the confines of the family life before I went out to society. Ordinary people often learn to acquire their culture naturally in society; nevertheless, there are many moral and norms that learn from the teachings of parents. My parents played the biggest role in my overall socialization. When I was young, I used to live in a city called Incheon. My family lived together near my parents ' acquaintances in Incheon. Therefore, my family often went to a lot of places such as mountain, sea, countryside, and amusement park wi ...

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. Every person has rights, even
children. These rights come with
responsibilities.
3. We have rights that guarantee well-
being and enjoyment of life in the community
and in our country. Other people and the
government are expected to respect and
uphold these rights. However, we should not
abuse our rights, but, rather, we should
enjoy them responsibility.
4. The following are some of your

responsibilities that go along
with them.
5. 1. As a child, you have the right to have a

family and respect and obey your
parents and elders.
2. As a child, you have the right to go to
school. In turn, you should study hard.

Cyrus: Hey, Jane. Yesterday, our
teacher taught us about our national
heroes. I was amazed upon
discovering their great deeds. How
about you, Jane? What did you learn
yesterday?
8. Jane: Oh, I learned about many things
yesterday, Cyrus. I was particularly
impressed by our lesson on rights- that even
if we are still young, we are also entitled to
different rights.
9. Cyrus: I wasn’t paying much attention.
I must have missed a lot. What are
those? Please name some, Jane.
10. Jane: We have a right to be born and to
have a name. We have a right to have a
family that will take care of us and provide
our basic needs, like food, shelter, and
education. We have a right to live in a clean
and peaceful community.
11. Cyrus: Oh, I missed quite a lot. I won’t
ever be inattentive in class again. It is
important that we know our rights.
12. Jane: It is also important to remember
that rights come with responsibilities,
Cyrus. We should learn to obey and
respect our parents and elders. We
should follow school rules and
