Here is my Summative Assessment for this unit on Child Rights. Hope you understand what I understand about Rights, Actions, Opportunities & Circumstances after this Keynote.
The patient, a 43-year-old female, presented with palpitations, dyspnea, and chest pain after physical exertion. She has a history of rheumatism and mitral stenosis but had been stable until now. Her symptoms suggest new onset atrial fibrillation precipitated by exertion in the setting of underlying heart valve disease.
Haiku Deck allows users to create presentations by providing templates and layouts for Haiku, a traditional Japanese poetic form. Users can get started making their own Haiku Deck presentation by uploading it to SlideShare. The document encourages the reader to try making a Haiku Deck presentation themselves.

Sophie created a short opening scene for a thriller film inspired by the movie "Taken." She used conventions of the thriller genre like suspenseful music and quick cuts between shots to create a sense of danger. The film represents the target audience of 16-18 year olds through the clothes and age of the main character. Sophie believes the film would appeal to 20th Century Fox as a distributor since they have distributed similar thrillers in the past.
The document outlines the plot, characters, and production details of a proposed thriller film. It describes stock characters and narrative elements like kidnapping and shooting. The plot involves a man kidnapped and placed in the trunk of a car, with flashbacks revealing how he and the kidnapper were once friends whose relationship changed. The film has a budget of £6,500,000 and potential production company of Film4 productions, known for low-to-medium budget British films.
The kidnapping of Charles Lindbergh Jr. from his nursery led to a massive investigation and manhunt. Ransom notes were exchanged and payments made through a go-between, but the child was later found dead. Bruno Richard Hauptmann was tried and convicted of the crime based on forensic evidence linking him to the wooden ladder and ransom notes. He was executed by electrocution one year after the trial amid massive media coverage of the "crime of the century."
Sentence Connectors are used to link large groups of words: phrases and sentences. You can also use them to connect paragraphs to give them coherence. Sentence connectors are usually placed at the beginning of a sentence.
Actions can either support or deny children's access to rights and opportunities. Supporting actions include organizations like UNICEF helping children in need and individuals taking actions like donating or volunteering. Denying actions include not caring about children's situations, depriving them of basic needs, and subjecting them to child labor and slavery. Examples that prove this are organizations supporting children's education and nutrition, while actions like the Taliban's rules deny human rights.

Actions can either support or deny children's access to rights and opportunities. Supportive actions include organizations like UNICEF helping children in need and individuals taking action through donations or volunteering. Denying actions include not caring about children's situations or violating their basic rights like prohibiting education or requiring child labor. Overall, the central idea is that one's actions can impact children's access to rights and chances in a positive or negative way.
This document discusses children's rights and an event held by students at The Winchester School in Jebel Ali to raise awareness about children's rights. It provides information on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which established specific rights for children, as well as examples of rights violations children still face around the world. The event included activities where students memorized and discussed children's rights, ranked their importance, and considered responsibilities that come with ensuring each right. The goal was to support children whose rights are being neglected and give them the lives they deserve.
Child labor takes a long time to stop, but through patience and hard work organizations like Free the Children help end it. Poverty is the main driver of child labor - it forces children into debt and work to pay it off. Iqbal worked for a year to pay off his father's debt. Freeing children means giving them an education, health, and the chance to be kids instead of workers. If we support groups helping children and raise awareness, we can help end child labor together.
Child labor takes a long time to stop, but through patience and hard work organizations like Free the Children work to help child laborers become free. Poverty is the main driver of child labor, as poor families feel they have no choice but to send their children to work to pay debts. Iqbal's story shows how he was forced to work for a year to pay off his family's debt. Freeing children from labor allows them to experience their childhood, get an education, and have opportunities rather than becoming slaves to debt. Everyone deserves basic needs and a life free from abuse, so supporting organizations that help child laborers is important to achieving the goal of liberating all children.
This document discusses children's rights and introduces CRY America, an organization that works to ensure all children's rights are upheld. It begins by explaining that all people under 18 have the same rights regardless of attributes. It then outlines the four main rights that all children are entitled to: survival, protection, development, and participation. The document shares the story of Asma, an 8-year-old girl in India who is unable to go to school and dreams of becoming a lawyer. It notes that many children in India do not receive sufficient food, education, or are forced to work. Finally, it introduces CRY America's mission to unite people who want to help children access their rights and outlines some of their work and impact
The document discusses several issues related to children's rights around the world. It notes that over half a billion children live on less than $1 per day, over 110 million children do not attend school with over 50% being girls, and 11 million children die each year from preventable causes. It also discusses issues such as child labor, abuse, trafficking, and lack of access to necessities like clean water, food, shelter, and healthcare.
The document discusses several human rights that children in developing countries are denied, including education, freedom of speech, and basic freedom. It focuses on children who are forced to work in unsafe factories instead of going to school and who cannot freely express themselves. These children have little access to healthcare, food, or play. The document urges readers to raise awareness of these issues and support organizations helping children in need. It provides examples from the novel "Iqbal" of how children are denied schooling and freedom of speech. The last paragraph emphasizes the importance of learning about and donating to causes addressing human rights violations against children globally.
This document discusses children's rights and introduces Child Rights & You (CRY) America, an organization that works to ensure all children's rights are upheld. It outlines the four main rights that all children are entitled to: survival, protection, development, and participation. It shares the story of Asma, an 8-year-old girl in India who does not get her rights to education. It describes some of CRY America's work in India to impact over 35,000 children and how people around the world, including children, support their efforts. It encourages the reader to take a pledge to help fight so all children can enjoy their rights.
1) Many children around the world, especially girls in developing countries, have their basic rights denied. They are forced into child labor, marriage, and do not have access to education.
2) Child laborers, especially those making carpets, live in invisible slavery with long work days under harsh conditions. They have no hope for a better future.
3) By raising awareness on social media, fundraising, and sponsoring girls' education, children and adults alike can help advocate for equal rights and an end to practices that deny children their childhood.

CHILDREN RIGHTS by Children Rights and YouMaría Madrazo
This document discusses children's rights and introduces CRY America, an organization that works to ensure all children's rights are upheld. It begins by outlining the four main rights of all children: survival, protection, development, and participation. It then shares the story of Asma, an 8-year-old girl in India who is unable to go to school and dreams of becoming a lawyer. The document highlights CRY America's efforts to raise awareness and funds to help children in need, like Asma, access education, healthcare, and other resources to have their rights fulfilled. It closes by encouraging readers, including children, to take the CRY pledge and do their part to support children worldwide.
Rights + Voice = Freedom
The document discusses the lack of basic rights for children in developing countries, specifically the right to play and the right to education. Many children are subjected to child labor and forced to work instead of attending school or playing. They are deprived of a childhood. The document calls for raising awareness of this issue and donating to organizations that support children's rights. It suggests individuals can help raise awareness in their communities and schools, and volunteer to teach children about global issues. Working together, society can help ensure all children have their basic rights respected.
Here is a draft essay on the Millennium Development Goals:
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were established in 2000 by the United Nations with the aim of tackling extreme poverty in its various dimensions by the year 2015. There were eight goals that focused on poverty alleviation, education, gender equality, child and maternal health, HIV/AIDS, environmental sustainability, and developing a global partnership for development.
The first MDG aimed to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger. Significant progress was made in reducing the proportion of people living on less than $1.25 a day, which declined from 47% in 1990 to 14% in 2015

2. Every Child, Small or
Tall...
Every child, big or small, short or tall, white or black,
have what are called Rights. Rights are expectations or
claims we have of our governments to help us fulfill our
potentials in life. Rights protect us from harm and hurt.
3. Every Child Has The Right
To Play...
Article 31
For me, this is one of the most important rights of the
child. The right to play gives your brain a break from
education. (Yet another of the 54 rights of the child.)
Many kids are denied the Right to play because they are
busy laboring or they don’t have enough money.
4. Every Child has the Right to
Protection from Kidnapping...
Article 11
This is quite an important one, and it supports the
Right for your parents to raise you. No one wants to be
kidnapped, right? But some kids are little and
defenseless so they have no choice but to give up and go
along with the kidnapping. Some kids are kidnapped for
bonded labor.
5. Every Child has the Right to
Rest...
Article 31
Rest is a very important Right for Children. It gives
them a chance for their brains to rest for education the
next day. But where do they sleep? It depends where
they live, and how wealthy they are. Many kids are poor
and can’t afford a safe place to sleep.
6. Every Child has the
Right to Privacy...
Article 16Every once and a while, I
just want to be alone. Don’t
you? Some kids don’t have
the opportunity to be
alone. Most times because
of over population.
Imagine being squashed in
a room with 56 people. It
would be awful.
7. Every Child has the
Right to Water...
Article 24Water is what we need to
survive. (Apart from food)
And it is very serious that
not all kids get enough
water. Water hydrates you
and gives you energy for
the next day. When you are
thirsty, you drink water.
When many other kids are
thirsty, they have to live
with it.
8. Every Child has the Right to
Food...
Article 24
Food is important to every day life because we would
die without it. Food gives you energy to play and learn.
It is sad that not all kids have access to good food, but
people all over the world are fighting to end world
hunger. Activities such as food drives, code systems, ect.
9. Every Child has the Right to
choose their friends...
Article 15
I have many friends, and I bet that you do too. I don’t
really understand this Right, but I get the outline. Some
kids don’t have access to friends at all, while others take
it for granted. All I can say is, I am glad to have many
good friends that care about me. Many are not so lucky.
10. Children have the Right to
Protection from Harm...
Article 19
I don’t like getting hurt, and I am sure that no one else
does either. But there are some people out there that
deny this Right and harm others in horrendous ways.
Police take Action to prevent this from happening, but,
sadly, you can’t really stop it completely.
11. Proving the Central Idea...
“Actions can support or deny access to rights and
opportunities.”
I know the Central Idea is true because:
1. If you get a bad grade on your math test, your parents
might not let you do a summer camp.
2. Iqbal cuts the special blue carpet, therefore getting
sent to the tomb for 4 days.
3. The School of St.Jude accepts a Tanzanian child into
their school, therefore opening up many doors of
opportunities to the family.
4. My dad gets a job that requires my family to move to
HK, thus supporting an opportunity to see different
places.

5B to Help Prevent and Stop Child Hunger! (In HK)
Our grade is participating in a Food Drive created and
organized by The Awesome Action group. (Prize for
most food collected by 7/6/13 is an ice-cream party) So
far, 5B are winning and we have raised 103 items of food
and in first place at the moment. Even if we don’t win,
we have still raised 103 non-perishable food items to
donate to a charity that gives the food to people with
no money to buy food in Hong Kong.
Go 5B!
14. Remember your Rights, and
that you have a Right to have
Them!
I hope that presentation demonstrated my
understanding of the Central Idea
Thank You!

Have a Nice Day @ CDNIS!
