4. SKIPPABLE IN-
STREAM VIDEO ADS
• The skippable in-stream video ads play before or
during a video
• The defining feature of these ads is that viewers can
choose to skip them after the first 5 seconds,
because of which these are known as skippable- ads
• The advertiser has to pay only when a person has
watched the first 30 seconds or the whole thing, or if
they interact with your ad by clicking

5. NON-SKIPPABLE IN-STREAM VIDEO ADS
• There are some video ads that cannot be skipped and which can be played before, in the
middle or after the video is finished
• The duration of such video ads can be 15-20 seconds
• A non-skippable in-stream video ad is used when we are aiming for a wide lift in brand
awareness, and when we are confident that our creative is strong enough to hold our
audience’s attention for the full 15 seconds

• Overlay ads are the type of YouTube ads which can
be viewed at the bottom of the video or on the top
right of the video.
• These types of advertisements are also known as
“In-video advertisements”.
• These videos are also only displayed on the desktop
and the ads contain images or text of size of 468X60
pixels or 728X90 pixels.
• These are kind of semi-transparent banners
covering 20% of the video player screen

• The bumper ads are a 6 second video format that
are mainly used for driving brand reach and
frequency.
• These ads are available through Google Ads1 as an
add-on to traditional campaigns and sold on a
CPM basis.

existing campaign but also complement broader
messaging.
