OF CUSTOMERS TOWARDS
ONLINE GROCERY
SHOPPING”

HOW DOES ONLINE GROCERY
SHOPPING WORKS?
• Like any other online shopping, online grocery
shopping takes place when a customer log
into the online grocery websites and place an
order.
• The order is later then home-delivered to the
customer.
• Payment may be made through debit card,
credit card, COD, etc.
ONLINE GROCERY SHOPPING IN INDIA
• In India, online grocery has started back in 2011
when BigBasket, the country’s largest e-grocer
began their operations.
• India is the 6th largest grocery market worldwide
and is also one of the fastest growing markets in
the field of online groceries.
• E-grocers in India can make money faster as
labor and logistics costs are much cheaper (acc.
to experts)
TOP ONLINE GROCERS IN INDIA
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
• The aim of this study is to find out the
online grocery sites that customers prefer
to use.
• And how frequently they order groceries
online.
• To find out some of the main reasons why
they go for online grocery shopping and
their perceptions towards it.
METHODOLOGY
• Primary data were collected through a
structured questionnaire which was circulated
among the online grocery customers, through
google forms.
• The secondary data were collected from the
internet.
• Sample size- 30 people gave out their opinion
through the questionnaire circulated.

Most sites used: Reliance Fresh and Big
Basket
Reasons for online grocery shopping :
• Local shops available do not meet their
needs.
• Need not carry heavy bags.
• Can buy items in bulk.
Most of the respondents have said
that online grocery shopping is safe
in terms of goods delivered and
payment .
One challenge is that Online Grocery
sites do not provide enough
information about what the
customers want to know.
