REAMING AND REAMERS.
* Reaming operation is used to:
a) make an existing hole dimensionally more accurate that
can be achieved by drilling alone.
b) improve its surface.
* Most accurate holes in work piece generally produced by:
a) centering.
b) drilling.
c) boring.
d) reaming.

Reamer.
* A multiple cutting edge tool with straight or helically fluted edges that
remove very little material.
* For soft metal, reamers removes a minimum 0.2mm on a diameter of a
drilled hole.
* For harder metal about 0.13mm is remove.
* Hand reamers are straight or have a tapered end in first third of their
length.
* Various machines reamers are:
- rose reamers.
- fluted reamers.
- shell reamers.

* Tapping can produced internal threads.
* Tap is a chip producing threading tool with multiple cutting
teeth. (available with 2, 3 or 4 flutes.)
* Types taps:
1) tapered taps.
- designed to reduce torque required for tapping of
through holes.
2) bottoming taps.
- for tapping blind holes to their full depth.
3) collapsible taps.
- used in large diameter holes.
