projects with controls expertise. The ICA team operates as
an integral part of Mott MacDonald’s North American Elec-
trical Group. The team is comprised of experienced and

2. Thomas Kuhn, P.E. – Team Leader (B.S. Electrical Engineering, M.S. Professional and Technical Communications). Tom has
20+ years of experience in control systems, electrical, and military engineering projects. Throughout Tom’s career, he
worked in both the private and consulting industries as well as serving concurrently as a military officer in the United States
Army Reserve with the Corps of Engineers. Throughout his career, Tom has gained controls experience in the water,
wastewater, nuclear power, renewable energy, transportation, and pharmaceutical industries. Tom has designed, commis-
sioned, and programmed numerous state of the art PLC control systems, SCADA systems, databases, and industrial control
system networks. Tom has served as the lead on many projects and has additional experience as a lead engineer and pro-
ject manager on various controls, electrical, and military civil construction projects.
Don Hinds – Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (B.S. Electrical/Environmental Engineering, B.S. Business). Don has
40+ years of extensive experience in the specification, design, programming, and start-up of instrumentation and control
systems for a variety of industries. He has served as I&C lead designer on numerous large projects. Projects completed
included high purity water, wastewater treatment, or air pollution control systems. Don has worked extensively with pro-
grammable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA/HMI systems where he leverages his years of knowledge and experience with
complex processes to provide well designed control systems. Don’s responsibilities include the development of design phase
plans and specifications, including P&ID diagrams, control panel layouts, instrument specifications, and process functional
descriptions. His construction phase responsibilities include shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, construction observa-
tion, and start-up assistance. Don specializes in instrumentation and control projects.
Richard R. Umbrino, Jr. – Project Manager and Design Engineer (B.S. Industrial Design) has 18+ years of experience provid-
ing design, construction support and project management services. Throughout his career, Richard has worked in a large
range of specialties including I&C systems, telemetry, communications, networking, SCADA system design, PLC system
design, CCTV security, cyber security, fire alarm appliances, submittal reviews, MEP designs, CAD, and electrical engineer-
ing. Rich has provided engineering support for numerous wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, water tow-
ers, water chambers, water booster stations, road and rail tunnels, aviation facilities, and various other commercial, indus-
trial, and municipal facilities. Rich’s detailed approach enable him to produce high quality and detailed design drawings that
exceed many client expectations. Rich specializes in I&C projects with a special focus on network, CCTV, and Cyber Security
design.
Shalom T. Varghese - Electrical Engineer (B.Tech. Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.S. Electrical Engineering) has
3+ years’ experience providing electrical engineering design and project management. Shalom has designed electrical and
instrumentation for wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations both domestically and internationally. He has as-
sisted with the construction management of large electrical & instrumentation projects including switchgear, MCC’s, and
E&I cables. In addition, Shalom has reviewed contractor documentation to ensure that the materials are as per design and
specifications while adhering to various local and international standards. He is familiar with FAT and commissioning proce-
dures for LV panels. He is also familiar and has worked in projects with O&M SCADA Design. Shalom is a specialist in com-
munications, instrumentation and controls projects.

Mala Mysore, E.I.T. - (M.S. Electrical Engineering). Ms. Mysore has 12 Years Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Experi-
ence in Water and Wastewater, Electric Utility and Manufacturing. Her duties have included preparation of process and
instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), design drawings and specifications, for control panels, PLCs, HMIs and instrumentation,
preparation of cost estimates and review of Contractor submittals, network and security systems design, functional docu-
mentation, instruction manuals and operator training. Programming experience includes PLCs and HMIs. Mala specializes
in process control systems, tunnel ventilation systems, and contract specifications. Mala has authored several systems
engineering reports and helps provide consistent documentation and drawings for the team.
