1. Weekly Reflection 11
This week saw the end of shooting, on Monday we completed Cassie Fonth’s scenes, including the final scene
of episode 4 where JJ discovers Skye unconscious and is knocked out by Jessica. We accomplished this by
filming India Harrison from behind in a similar wardrobe to Skye’s character, as well as having her be
unconscious, the difference between the actors is now minimal. Monday saw Cassie leaving the production,
having finished all of her scenes. While Wednesday was dedicated to filming additional scenes with India
Harrison and Frazer Hardwick. In the end, I made several changes to the script of episode three. This included
changing the location in the first scene from Elizabeth’s office to an unspecified stairwell. This was done
because the office set was no longer available, nor was Donna Kitching, so she was omitted from the first scene
altogether. In order to compensate for this, India was given a slightly larger role as the ghostly influence in
Riley’s life. Though I chose to omit her lines, as we had difficulties recording audio due to wind. I think this
works better, as having her be silent makes the character more mysterious. I also changed the ending of the
episode by necessity, as the plot with Elizabeth’s watch has been omitted from the script altogether, which
makes the ending moot, therefore it was changed to Riley simply apologising to the vision of his mother, who
then leaves him on a more bittersweet note. With these final scenes shot, all of the footage is now completed.
It’s clear now that my biggest issues going forward will be; the sound quality of many shots, due to us
recording on a broken microphone and the shakiness of some shots, due to a tripod being lost during
production. Aside from these issues, the shoots have been a success. All the actors performed very well
despite reshoots and the script has translated well. Especially the closing scenes of episode five, which I’ve
now completed my first draft of. Now that filming is out of the way, all my time can be dedicated to editing. As
it will be the pilot
